That’s Yoshihiro Miyajima, a longtime fan of both Delicious in Dungeon and the author Ryoko Kuiwho will assemble a younger team of staff at the TRIGGER studio to direct the project.
“I have loved Delicious in Dungeon since it began being serialized. Back when the first episode was released (January 2015), I remember asking my boss if there was any way we (TRIGGER) could adapt the anime, only to be told that we No director was capable of animating such a series at the time. A few years later, the opportunity to make an animated trailer came to us. I felt like I had to be the one to direct it, so I gave the project its own name,” Yoshihiro Miyajima shared at the film screening.
The trailer made by Yoshihiro Miyajima and his team and TRIGGER would inspire Kazufumi Kikushima to take charge of the anime television series. The project was officially announced in August 2022.

“Character designer Naoki Takeda also drew many different works of monsters lurking in the dark. However, it was difficult to see them because they were in the dark,” Kazufumi Kikushima noted.
Their television anime work will be released to the public in May 2023 with the release of the first teaser trailer.
Asuna Tomari and Kentaro Kumagai commented on their excitement and shared some details about their audition process. They were first chosen from an audition, followed by an in-studio audition. The actors were then invited to a four-person impromptu read, where the crew could get a feel for their dynamic as a team.

“I chose Kentaro Kumagai for the role of Laios because of how well he managed to fit in among the four members of the group. I feel like it wouldn’t be right for the production if the four of them got along too well from the beginning. Kentaro Kumagai has a moderate distance from everyone,” shares Yoshihiro Miyajima.
On September 15, Sayaka Sembongi (Marcille) joined Yoshihiro Miyajima and Kazufumi Kikushima. Sayaka Sembongi shared that, ever since she read the manga, she wanted to play the role of Marcille.

Her dedication will not go unrewarded. Kazufumi Kikushima and Yoshiro Miyajima came to an agreement almost immediately after hearing Sayaka Sembongi’s audition.
“I wanted to cast Sayaka Sembongi as Marcille as soon as I saw her audition,” shares Yoshihiro Miyajima.
The screenings mark the world premiere of the second episode, after the first episode premiered at the same time as the first episode previously premiered at Anime Expo 2023 in the United States. Delicious in Dungeon will premiere worldwide on Netflix in January 2024.
