S, the Deadlock writer, is being treated for stage 4 cancer.
Image via Amazon JapanPublisher Taiyoh Tosho announced on X/Twitter on Friday that BL novelist Saki Aida (Deadlock, S) has died. The company did not disclose the cause of death.
Aida announced on X/Twitter in February that she was being treated for stage 4 cancer. At that time, new bone metastases had occurred and she needed radiation therapy. Aida recently canceled her autograph session for the manga Kokū no Tsuki (pictured right) scheduled for Saturday due to feeling unwell.
Aida is known for BL novels such as S and Deadlock, both of which have released manga in English from Digital Manga Publishing. Seven Seas recently licensed Aida's novel Bowing to Love: The Noble and the Gladiator (Ai ni Hizamazuku Toki) with illustrations by Yamimaru Enjin. Aida most recently provided the story for the manga Kokū no Tsuki with artist Rо̄ Nishimoto. The manga launched in 2022, and the first compiled book volume was published on July 26.
