Attack on Titan fans have come together to pay tribute to the series’ fallen protagonist, Eren Yeager.
The highly anticipated series finale for the hugely popular Attack on Titan anime was a moment both somber and exciting for many fans of the series. The anticipation surrounding Attack on Titan’s decades-long ending has resulted in several videos going viral. One such clip features footage taken from another video posted shortly after the original manga series ended in 2021, in which Chinese fans gathered for a real-life funeral dedicated to Attack on Titan’s tragic central character, Eren.
Although the clip is only half a minute long, the entire video uploaded to video sharing website Bilibili lasts over ten minutes and includes several scenes of fans honoring Eren and Attack on Titan’s legacy. This included emotional speeches from some attendees, the burning of incense at the altar and even a performance by a Chinese funeral band. There are also several scenes in which attendees stand in front of photos of Eren and pose with the iconic Attack on Titan salute.
The attack on Titan is about to end
The final installment of the Attack on Titan series, titled Attack on Titan Final Chapters Special 2, is one of the most anticipated anime series of the year. Part 1 of the special was released previously in March 2023 and lasted more than an hour. Part two of the special spans a feature-length 85 minutes and culminates with the conclusion of Attack on Titan’s ten-year run. However, huge fan anticipation for the finale also caused some problems during the Western premiere, with anime streaming service Crunchyroll’s servers temporarily experiencing problems due to the amount of traffic. Excited audiences are trying to watch the final episode as soon as it airs.
Additionally, an online after-party event is also planned to begin the day after the finale premiere and will last until November 8, with guests such as the voice actors of the series in attendance. some favorites, MAPPA Studio director Yuichiro Hayashi and Wit Studio director Tetsuro Araki. An after-party event will also feature the premiere of a new dub film, starring Eren, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert and several other fan-favorites.
