Anime enthusiasts in Odisha spent a day filled with immersive experiences, vibrant cosplay and engaging discussions at AniMetro, the largest anime event in the region. Held on November 5, 2023, this event brings together anime fans and local businesses, creating a vibrant and vibrant celebration of anime culture.
Pre-event activities set the tone for AniMetro with an online cosplay workshop on October 31, 2023. Hosted by famous cosplayers Meghna Rawat and Tanmay Bakshi, the workshop aimed to boost confidence of participants, providing valuable tips for cosplay success and staying on budget.
AniMetro’s main event on November 5 featured a Japanese language learning workshop, an anime editing competition, an art competition and a panel on the history of anime in India. The morning session included an exciting cosplay competition where participants expressed their creativity and passion for their favorite anime characters.
The event created a marketplace for anime enthusiasts, including booths from small businesses in Odisha such as Hooks and Yarns, DripFuel and OldTown India. These businesses sell items related to the anime hobby, reporting that their inventory is sold out, highlighting the demand and interest in anime culture in the region.

The afternoon session featured a panel titled “Voiceover Voyage” with Hindi voice actors Sanket Mhatre and Vaibhav Thakkar. The voice actors stepped into their famous characters, delivering stage performances that delighted the enthusiastic crowd.
The event ended with congratulating guests, awarding prizes and taking autograph photos. The organizers noted the positive response from the anime community, and expressed gratitude for the energetic atmosphere and tremendous support.
