Spice and Wolf have released new character images for the upcoming anime reboot, which will premiere in 2024.
Spice and Wolf released these images through the series’ official website. The visual features the two main characters, Lawrence and Holo. The cast of the original anime will return, which means Jun Fukuyama and Ami Koshimizu will return to voice the characters.
Passione will animate the reboot, whose full title is Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf. Takeo Takahashi will serve as director. Hijiri Sanpei also handles directing duties, while Kevin Penkin will be in charge of the film’s music. Studio Imagin animated the original Spice and Wolf, which aired during the Winter 2008 anime season and ran for 12 episodes. It received an original anime series in May of the same year. May 2009 saw the release of the studio’s second OVA and 12-episode second season Marvy Jack and the Brain’s Base.
Isuna Hasekura wrote the Japanese light novel series that Spice and Wolf will adapt. Jyuu Ayakura illustrates the novel series first published by ASCII Media Works in 2006. The original novel series by Hasekura and Ayakura has 22 volumes. Hasekura is currently working on a sequel to the first novel, titled The Wolf and the Parchment, this time with Hidori participating in the illustrations. Keito Koume created the manga adaptation Spice and Wolf in 2007 and the series has been running for 10 years.
Yen Press holds the license to Hasekura’s Spice and Wolf and describes the story as follows: “The life of a traveling merchant is a lonely one, a fact with which Kraft Lawrence is all too familiar.
