During a livestream event showcasing the 10th anniversary project of trading card game WIXOSS, a new anime promotional video titled “Selector loth WIXOSS” was announced on Sunday. The promotional video reunites staff from previous anime projects in the series and gives a look at what's to come.
Mari Okada returned to outline the follow-up story for the promotional video, set a decade after the events of previous Selector anime projects. Animation studio JC Staff will once again handle animation duties, while Kanon Wakeshima returns to perform the theme song.
Fans can expect the “Selector loth WIXOSS” video to stream on the franchise's official YouTube channel this spring. Additionally, starting this summer, the franchise's official website will publish the Selector Infected Wixoss peep analysis manga by Okada and artist Manatsu Suzuki, along with a novel exploring the lives of Selectors a decade later.
Coinciding with these releases, the included WX24-P2 WIXOSS TCG Booster Pack Loath Selector is expected to go on sale July 6.
WIXOSS, pronounced “wi-cross,” was launched by toy and game maker Takara Tomy in April 2014, alongside the premiere of the anime series Selector Infected Wixoss. It was followed by a second season, Selector Spread Wixoss, in October of the same year.
The franchise expanded with the release of the anime film Selector Destructed Wixoss in February 2016 and the 12-episode anime series Lostorage inciting WIXOSS in October 2016, streamed by Crunchyroll.
Wixoss Diva(A)Live, the latest anime television installment in the series, premiered on January 8, 2021, with Crunchyroll streaming the series as it aired in Japan. Selector Infected Wixoss and Selector Spread Wixoss were released by Funimation on Blu-ray Disc and DVD in September 2015 and June 2016, respectively.
Tomy International launched the English version of the card game in November 2021, further expanding the reach of the WIXOSS franchise.
