Returning in the film are the three thief sisters Kisugi from the anime Cat’s Eye. Keiko Toda and Chika Sakamoto will return from the original Cat’s Eye television anime as Hitomi and Ai. Rica Fukami plays Rui. (Toshiko Fujita, who played Rui in the original Cat’s Eye anime, passed away in December 2018.)
Ryōta Yamasato from comedy duo Nankai Candies will voice a guy who flirts with Angie and asks her out on a date.

The film will open in Japan on September 8. Anime Limited will screen the film in North America, the UK and Ireland in 2024.
City Hunter franchise director Kenji Kodama is directing the new film at Sunrise and The Answer Studio Co., Ltd. Yasuyuki Mutō (Deadman Wonderland) is writing the script. Aniplex is distributing the film.
The film will revolve around Ryo Saeba’s past and the death of his former partner Hideyuki Makimura. It will also revolve around Angel Dust, which was also important in the original series.
Returning voice actors include Akira Kamiya as Ryo Saeba, Kazue Ikura as Kaori Makimura, Harumi Ichiryūsai as Saeko Nogami, Tesshō Genda as Umibōzu, and Mami Koyama as Miki.
TM Network will perform the opening theme song “Whatever Comes” and the ending theme song “Get Wild” (the ending theme song of the original anime series).
The new anime film celebrates the 35th anniversary of the TV anime’s debut.
Tsukasa Hojo’s City Hunter manga series ran from 1985 to 1991 and had 35 volumes. The manga has inspired four television anime series, one anime film, and several video and TV specials including the original 2015 anime DVD.
