The anime adaptation of Mr. Osomatsu was successful
Brand Mr. Osomatsu’s popularity began with Fujio Akatsuka’s 1962 Osomatsu-kun manga. Written as a slice-of-life comedy, the film revolves around six 10-year-old sextuplets who, thanks to their oldest brother’s questionable leadership abilities, often get into trouble. They also both love the same person; a girl named Totoko. Pierrot adapted the series into an anime in October 2015, spanning three seasons and chronicling the brothers’ lives as young men. Exploding in popularity as a cult hit, the franchise expanded to include three animated films, a live-action film, and several animated shorts.
Anime Mr. Osomatsu is directed by Yoichi Fujita (Gintama) and has a script written by Michiko Yokote (Masamune-kun’s Revenge, RIN-NE), Shu Matsubara and Yukio Otada. Takahiro Sakurai (Berserk: The Golden Age Arc), Daisuke Ono (Attack on Titan) and Hiroshi Kamiya (One Piece, Attack on Titan) play Osomatsu, Jushimatsu and Choromatsu, respectively. Jun Fukuyama (Code Geass), Miyu Irino (Haikyu!) and Yuichi Nakamura (Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma) play Ichimatsu, Todomatsu and Karamatsu. The role of Totoko is played by Aya Endo (Goblin Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen).
