In recent times, live-action anime projects have proven to be the new trend. Netflix's recent live-action One Piece series further cemented the notion that live-action can be a huge success if done right.
Therefore, the idea of a live-action Berserk project would be a treat for fans and would definitely excite many fans.
In an attempt to boost his popularity, a fan posted a poll asking if Henry Cavill playing the title character would boost his popularity after the show. However, the results were disastrous, as it was something fans of the Man of Steel actor could not have foreseen in their wildest dreams.
Henry Cavill is not welcome in the live-action version of Berserk
Kentaro Miura's Berserk is still ongoing, despite the original author's passing. The manga's plot is 10/10 and the main character Guts is what makes the plot special.
Guts had a dark childhood, suffering many traumas and horrifying experiences that made all of a person's efforts to survive futile. From the death of his mother, to being betrayed by a group of mercenaries, his life was filled with difficult experiences.
This character is considered the greatest and is a name that is far superior to any other name, including names like Monkey D. Luffy, Uzumaki Naruto, and Son Goku.
As a result, one fan shared a poll on r/Berserk , asking the community if they would be interested in seeing a live-action adaptation if Henry Cavill played Guts.
A total of 241 votes were cast in the Reddit post. Surprisingly, only 89 people wanted to see Cavill in the role. On the other hand, a whopping 152 people responded that they didn't want to see the actor play Guts.
Fans expressed their opinions on the post and explained that other names would make Guts much more appealing.
However, the idea of a live-action Berserk movie seems too far-fetched. Many fans have commented on this as well:
– I'm not saying it's impossible, but the chances of a live-action adaptation that stays true to the manga and satisfies fans are slim. There are so many things that need to go right (casting, budget, script, etc.) and those things rarely happen when it comes to dark fantasy.
– I think the art of the manga and anime is part of why Berserk is so great… and it's impossible to translate that into live action.
– As the plot progresses, the world gets worse. It's impossible to do the goat scene, or the eclipse scene in live action, and many more.
