Dragon BallThe Z Warriors wield incredible power in their quest to become the strongest warrior alive, with Super Saiyan 3 Goku was the top form in a series that had more forms than it knew what to do with. Though not used often, Super Saiyan 3 remains one of Goku's most popular levels, with new fanart showing just how cool it can beand why this form needs to make a comeback.
Recently, Kakeru (@DBSKAKERU1) shared on X (formerly Twitter), this artist has not missed any professional Dragon Ball artwork, and luckily for fans, that is the field Kakeru has always pursued.
Kakeru has previously created images featuring Dragon Ball moments and characters, both canon and brand new, uploading images of Broly transforming into Super Saiyan Blue, Mini Goku flying on dragon back from the upcoming Dragon Ball DAIMA chapter, and even Orange Piccolo from the final version of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero's Cell Max, all drawn in a style indistinguishable from the late great Akira Toriyama.
Dragon Ball Fanart Shows Goku's True Power in Super Saiyan 3 Form
Fanart Design by Kakeru (@DBSKAKERU1)
A form achieved while Goku was training in the afterlife after the Cell Games, Super Saiyan 3 was not fully revealed until Goku fought an overwhelmingly powerful Majin Buu and was the definition of what it meant to surpass one's limits, giving Goku a level of power that, at the time, was the ultimate transformation in Dragon Ball Z. Passing this seemingly final form in Dragon Ball Super with his god branch of transformations, Super Saiyan 3 is most memorably seen in the movies Dragon Ball Z Fusion Reborn and Wrath of the Dragon.
Keeping with the more cool style of Super Saiyan 3 Goku as seen in these movies, Kakeru draws a battle-ravaged Goku floating in the air as he looks out at the viewer with determined but measured eyes—this is a Goku who has stopped playing the game. Clenching his right fist as it glows with energy, Kakeru sketches the energy outline of a yellow Shenron-like dragon next to Goku, undoubtedly referencing his ultimate Dragon Fist attack.essentially distilling everything that makes Goku's Super Saiyan 3 form such an important and powerful form for him to use.
Super Saiyan 3 Goku Fanart Perfectly Honors Akira Toriyama's Art Style
While Super Saiyan 3 is one of the few transformations that gives the character a distinct visual appearance. Instead of just being a hair color swap in the style of Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Ultra Instinct Goku, this piece still doesn't get enough love in either the fanart community or the Dragon Ball canon, making this fanart a treat to behold. Dragon Ball will be inevitable for Goku Another form would make Super Saiyan 3 look like child's play, but for now, Kakeru (@DBSKAKERU1) reminds fans why this is a form that deserves more respect.
