Summary
Acca Howler, the new villain of The JOJOLands, is a complete contrast to the other villains in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as he is a public and flamboyant character. Howler is also portrayed as not being as invulnerable as previous villains. Howler's personality makes him a counterpoint to Diavolo, continuing the contrast between The JOJOLands and Golden Wind.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is famous for changing the type of story it tells with each new installment, and with that change, there is always a new type of villain for the heroes to deal with. Of course, there will be some overlap in powers and personalities, but someone can always walk into a new installment and expect to see a completely different main villain than anyone they've just read.
JOJOLands is the latest installment of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, and after more than a year of mystery, chapter #17 may have finally been revealed. The main antagonist of the story, Acca HowlerHowler has only appeared in one chapter, so not much is known about the character, but the little information that has been shown makes it clear that JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is continuing its tradition of completely changing the way its villains act.
That change also fits in with the general idea of The JOJOLands, and overall, it's a great change. The difference in writing promises a lot of interesting developments surrounding Howler in the following chapters.
How JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part 9's New Villain Is Different From The Rest
Most of the villains in JoJo tend to be reclusive, rarely interacting with others and keeping their true selves hidden, but from just one chapter, JOJOLands builds Acca Howler into a flamboyant and expressive villain whose actions are very publica stark contrast to how villains are usually portrayed. Previous chapters have depicted HOWLER as a company widely known for its illegal activities, so Acca Howler's characterization can be seen as a natural extension of that.
Acca Howler also contrasts with previous villains by how easy he is to deal with. In every other installment, villains can only be dealt with by the heroes defeating them in a fight, but Howler can be defeated simply by bankrupting him without Jodio having to fight him. That doesn't mean a fight won't happen, as Howler has taken deadly measures to counteract interference in his work, but it does show that Howler is a much less invincible villain than villains like Dio or Diavolo.
JOJOLands continues to flip Golden Wind's script with a new villain
Acca Howler is the perfect shield for Diavolo
Another interesting element about Acca Howler's character is how he continues the contrast between The JOJOLands and Golden Wind by being a counterpoint to Diavolo. Not only is Howler a public figure that directly contrasts with Diavolo's reclusiveness, but The revelation that Howler used lava rock to get rich is in stark contrast to Diavolo doing so with the Stand Arrows. Those factors and others make Howler a great new addition to the JoJo's Bizarre Adventureand it will be amazing to see what the movie does with him.
