Legend about One Piece becomes increasingly richer as the manga delves deeper into the Final Saga. During the Egghead Arc, Vegapunk's messages revealed some shocking information about Joyboy, the mysterious character from the Void Century.
First mentioned in the Fishman Island Arc, he has appeared in the story for a long time. He has a significant relationship with the mermaids, who are still waiting for his return after 800 years. They also believe that he is the messiah who will bring freedom to the world.
His role in the franchise becomes more prominent in the Wano Country Arc when Luffy transforms into Gear 5. Zunesha, the giant elephant that has roamed the seas for hundreds of years, senses the awakening of Luffy's Devil Fruit and announces Joyboy's return.
However, it's not until the Egghead arc that we begin to get a clear picture of this historical figure. In Chapter 1115, Joyboy first appeared as a silhouette. He is also revealed to have a close relationship with the Iron Giant in this arc.
Through the Iron Giant, Emeth, we learn our first words from Joyboy in One Piece Chapter 1119 . When Emeth was blown into the sea by the Gorosei, he felt Joyboy's presence as Luffy transformed into Gear 5. This reminded him of his old friend.
According to a One Piece leaker, Emeth recalls Joyboy's words: “Emeth, when the time comes, you must…” The flashback ends halfway through. And even though we don't know what the robot is saying, it's still an important addition to the story.
At this point, it's no longer a secret that Joyboy is one of the most important characters in One Piece, considering his mysterious connection to Luffy and his role as an enemy of the World Government. So, every little piece of information we get about him helps us better understand his personality.
One Piece Chapter 1119 ends with Emeth attacking Warcury, energized by Joyboy's words. What happens next will be revealed in Chapter 1120, after the manga returns from a short hiatus next week.
