Uta and Yamato are reimagined as modern day besties in this amazing One Piece fan art.
An artist named Takeuchi Ryosuke (@/ryosuketarou) uploaded their modernized One Piece fan art on Twitter. In Ryosuke’s artwork, Uta and Yamato are having a night out on the town. Among the crowd behind are familiar faces in the One Piece series.
One Piece Guest Characters in Fan Art
Of course, the most obvious cameos are Roronoa Zoro, Trafalgar D. Water Law and Tony Tony Chopper. However, there are deeper cuts in the crowd, such as Jango the Turncoat from East Blue Saga. The person on Jango’s right appears to be the back of the older Koby, the Marine Captain that Monkey D. Luffy first met as a child when he began his adventures for One Piece. The white bear in the crowd seems to be the artist’s nod to Pandaman, the character in Eiichiro Oda’s jokes.
Uta and Yamato are both fascinating and influential characters in the One Piece world. Yamato plays an important role in the plot of Wano Country, where the Straw Hats battle against Kaidou and his Beasts in an isolated country inspired by feudal Japan. Uta is the star of One Piece Film: Red, the 2022 animated film that features Luffy reunited with the world famous singer and reveals she is the adopted daughter of “Red-Haired” Shanks. Although Uta has the voice of an angel, her attitude towards her fans and Luffy is a bit like yandere.
Although Uta seems like an anime-only character, Oda included her as the background for Chapter 1055 of the manga. She also appeared in the anime television series. Meanwhile, One Piece fans can see more of Yamato in the anime adaptation of the Wano Country part. Henry Thurlow, the first American animator to direct an episode of One Piece, believes the Wano Country finale will blow away the likes of Bleach and Demon Slayer. Thurlow will direct Episode 1066 of One Piece slated to air this month.
One Piece is currently available on streaming services like Crunchyroll, Hulu, and Tubi. Viz Media handles the release of the English manga. A live-action One Piece TV series for Netflix will release sometime in 2023.
