Summary
Yuji Itadori is the main character of Jujutsu Kaisen, but other characters like Gojo and Megumi steal the spotlight. Yuji's impact on the series is undeniable despite often being lackluster in key battles and arcs. As Yuji grows from an ordinary high school student to a powerful wizard, his journey makes him one of shounen's best heroes.
Jujutsu Kaisen The main character is often somewhat ambiguous, with Many people believe that Gojo Satoru is the main character, not Yuji Itadori.Gojo is a truly prominent character in the series and has developed into a pop culture icon, but Yuji Itadori is the true protagonist of the series. Unfortunately and quite surprisingly, Yuji often fades into the background, sometimes almost forgotten.
In other popular manga series, like Naruto and Dragon Ball, there is no mistaking who the main character is. Fans and those unfamiliar with anime alike can recognize these franchises anywhere based on the familiar designs of famous main characters.
However, Gojo Satoru and Nanami Kento are arguably more recognizable and mentioned more often.Jujutsu Kaisen is more heroic than Yuji. Even more surprising, even among other high school witches, such as Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, Itadori does not always stand out as the most important leader, although perhaps he should So when considering my role in the series.
Yuji is the main character of Jujutsu Kaisen, but not the most popular hero
Other characters such as Gojo, Megumi and Nanami have earned their place as fan favorites, taking Yuji's spot
Many of Jujutsu Kaisen's most exciting and important battles do not feature Yuji, such as Gojo vs. Sukuna and Toji vs. Gojo, along with countless other matches. Exacerbating this problem, The recently released second part of Jujutsu Kaisen features a Hidden Inventory/Early Death arc, excluding Itadori completely and exclusively delves into Gojo Satoru's high school days and past experiences before becoming a teacher, as well as his falling out with his former best friend, Geto Suguru due to his changing ideals. It's surprising that Yuji wasn't present in the first half of the season of the show where he was the main character.
There are other instances in Jujutsu Kaisen when Yuji is absent for a while, and at times, it seems like the show focuses more on Gojo's life, wizarding journey, and character arc than Yuji's, especially in the second season. However, Yuji's importance is certainly made clear, and even if he has moments where he doesn't visibly impact the plot or fight in the foreground, Important plot points always lead back to him in the end. From the very first episode, Itadori has grown stronger and more capable as a wizard and these other characters have mentored and supported him along the way.
Yuji didn't always stand out in Jujutsu Kaisen, but his impact is undeniable
In later volumes and chapters, Yuji begins to take on more responsibilities. In season 2, He personally killed the bone-chilling and nearly invincible cursed spirit, Mahito. It was this villain who was able to take down his classmate and good friend, Nobara Kugisaki, and even, one of his most prized mentors, Nanami Kento. Nanami in particular was a Level 1 Sorcerer at the time of his death, so Itadori's ability to destroy the curse that defeated a Level 1 Sorcerer was a testament to his newfound talent and the growth in his wizardry skillswhich he uses clumsily at first.
His journey is especially inspiring when recalling that Yuji grew from an ordinary high school student to an extraordinary wizard, with very little background and training. He faced countless special level curses and even eliminated Mahito, something many adult witches couldn't even do. These achievements undeniably prove Itadori is a strong and capable protagonist who deserves respect and admiration. Even though other characters are sometimes more appreciated by the fan community or earn more screen time, Yuji's influence is always evident.
Yuji killed curses that even seasoned magicians could not, such as Mahito
These incredible achievements prove that he is a worthy protagonist for Jujutsu Kaisen
In a recent manga chapter, even Sukuna, the menacing and experienced King of Curses, commented on Yuji's perseverance and “unbreakable” wizardry. Now that Itadori has finally found his way as a wizard and takes on the lead role in the series, his talented performances are made even more impactful thanks to his humble background his. By allowing him to gradually develop into a respectable hero, rather than possessing absolute power from the start, he becomes more understandable and impressive as a main character, undeniably making him one of the best shounen heroes of all time.
With the tragic deaths of Gojo and Nanami, Yuji sadly lost both his main mentors as well as a large number of friends, causing him to be justifiably angry and fight even harder to take down fall under evil curses. Even though he has some big problems to take on, his motivation and gradual development into a hero makes Yuji both incredibly compelling to watch and more believable. Yuji Itadori has proven that he is the only worthy choice for Jujutsu Kaisen protagonist by constantly keeping the series fresh and interesting, and hopes to be the one to defeat Sukuna once and for all.
