MyAnimeList just shocked the anime community with a surprise change in the top 10 rankings for Winter 2024.
Surprisingly, “The Dangers in My Heart Season 2” won the coveted number 1 position, surpassing heavyweights such as “Solo Leveling”, “Mashle”, “Delicious in Dungeon” and “Ninja Kamui”.
The announcement was made via X (formerly Twitter) on March 29, 2024, as MyAnimeList built predictions for the season finale.
At the time, “Kingdom” almost held on to the top spot, but it quickly turned to April 2, 2024 and “The Dangers in My Heart Season 2” took the lead, surpassing no only “Kingdom” but also the famous “Solo Leveling” and others.
Here is the full ranking of the top 10:
1. Danger in My Heart Part 2 (8.92)2. The Kingdom Season 5 (8.78)3. Level up alone (8.37)4. A sign of affection (8.29)5. Ninja Kamui (8.12)6. Elite class season 3 (8.01)7. Delicious in dungeons (7.98)8. Mashle: Magic and Brawn – Competition for contestants with divine vision (7.95)9. Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy Part 2 (7.95)10. Urusei Yatsura (2022) Part 2 (7.76)
Notably, works such as “Ninja Kamui” and “Urusei Yatsura (2022)” have surprised many people. Although “Urusei Yatsura (2022)” has a loyal fan base, it only ranked 18th in anticipation before the season began.
On the other hand, “Ninja Kamui” faces accessibility challenges for fans, with Max ranking only fifth among the most popular anime streaming sites in the United States among Gen Z and Millennials, while Toonami didn't make the list at all.
The third place of “Solo Leveling” may also surprise many, as it is one of the most anticipated anime of the season along with “Classroom of the Elite”. However, its widespread popularity even exceeds that of the anime genre, securing a place among the world's most popular television series in general.
