Review of episode 9 of Level 99 Villain: In the previous episode, we saw Yumiella get a dragon of her own. Let’s see how this episode plays out below.
Level 99 Villain: I may be a Boss but I’m not a Demon Lord or Akuyaku Reijō Reberu 99: Watashi wa Ura Bosudesuga Maō de wa Arimasen (悪役令嬢レベル99 ~私は裏ボスですが魔王ではありません~ ) is a new anime series based on the Japanese light novel of the same name written by Satori Tanabata and illustrated by Tea.
Directed by Minoru Yamaoka, the film’s script was written by Fumihiko Shimo and character designs were handled by Hitomi Kaiho and Lo Ho Kim.
Mayu Maeshima provided vocals for the opening theme song, Love or Hate?, while Fairouz Ai and Rina Hidaka, portraying their respective characters, performed the ending theme song titled Suki ga Rebechi (好きがレベチ, Love on a Different Level).
I’ve tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I have to cover in order to give a proper response.

Villainess level 9 episode 9 review and summary: Seduced Yumiella
Today’s episode begins with an interesting premise. We saw our villain being lured by a spy to join the enemy nation. The neighboring country fears Yumiella’s power and wants her to join them, hoping to use her if they go against the Kingdom of Valschein, the birthplace of our heroin. The neighboring kingdom was also close to Margrave Ashbatten’s domain, meaning Patrick’s home. This means that if Yumiella joins the neighboring nation, she will have to fight against Patrick at some point.
Now, this was a difficult decision because this was Yumiella’s lifelong dream. She always wanted to escape her current home and go somewhere where she wouldn’t have to think about being persecuted by the original female protagonist and her supporters.
But things are no longer the same, and neither is Yumiella, no longer the same. Now, she had a friend who would be in the most danger if she agreed to this offer, so it was only natural for Yumiella to completely refuse this offer.
In this episode, we also see a healthy development between Yumiella and Eleonora, who consider Yumiella, a dear friend. She was the only one who had the courage to ask Yumiella for help with things that one could only ask of a close associate. And Yumiella, despite pretending to be upset with this kind of arrangement, I believe she is secretly happy that someone other than Patrick sees her as a normal girl and not some crazy demon.
Patrick, on the other hand, is trying his best to level up his power in a manner worthy of Yumiella, who says she likes men stronger than her. And although becoming stronger than her is unthinkable, Patrick still tries his best to improve himself as much as possible. The funniest part was when Yumiella suspected Patrick of having a secret relationship and even expressed her suspicions to him, who became visibly shocked and upset about such wild theories .
Decision
Today’s episode mainly focuses on character development, as we see how much Yumiella has changed. And not only has she become a new version of themselves, we also see a clear transformation in everyone who comes into direct contact with Yumiella. I also like that our main character is self-aware and she realizes that she is not an ordinary being. I’m especially intrigued by the ending because we might get some intense plot twists in the next episode.
