The scene quickly spread on social networking sites such as TikTok and X (formerly Twitter). Check out some reactions:
In addition to the Best Director award, Jujutsu Kaisen also took home a record 11 awards, breaking My Hero Academia’s total award set in 2018 at the 2nd Crunchyroll Anime Awards (8). Readers can see the full list of Crunchyroll Anime Award winners here, with Jujutsu Kaisen taking home another Anime of the Year, Best Action, Best Character Design, Best Cinematography , Best Opening Sequence, Best Ending Sequence, Best Supporting Character, Best Voice Actor (Japanese), Best Voice Actor (French) and Acting Best voice actor (Portuguese).
According to those who have worked with him, Goshozono’s influence on the success of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is undeniable. Part 2 animator Shinsaku Kozuma posted to X in late December, “Director Goshozono is amazing. Without his talent, there would be no second season of Jujutsu Kaisen. I’m so grateful.” In a recent interview with Full Frontal, he added: “Goshozono has what it takes! When I first talked to him, I thought he might be on the same level as Akiyuki, maybe even better. He’s still young so I don’t think he’s reached that stage yet but it’s clear things are just starting for him. He knew what kind of animation he wanted to do, but I guess he could still go further from there.”
Jujutsu Kaisen is animated by MAPPA. It was recently revealed that four Jujutsu Kaisen episodes will be retconned, with the iconic episode “Thunderclap, Part 2” receiving additional footage. Readers can watch the regular series on Crunchyroll, which depicts: Yuji Itadori eats a cursed finger to save a classmate, and now Ryomen Sukuna, a powerful evil wizard known as The King of Curses, lives in Itadori’s soul. A curse is a supernatural horror created from negative human emotions. This cursed energy can be used as a power source by jujutsu sorcerers as well as cursed spirits. Guided by jujutsu wizards, Yuji Itadori joins Tokyo Jujutsu High School, an organization that fights curses. Guided by teacher Satoru Gojo, Itadori befriends Megumi Fushiguro and Nobara Kugisaki, both first-year students.
Part 2 flashes back in time to when students Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto are assigned to protect the Star Plasma Vessel. In October 2018, a veil fell over Shibuya. Gojo walks in with Itadori and the other jujutsu witches outside, unaware of Geto’s trap.
