Comic Market received a prestigious award for blood donation activities from the Japanese Red Cross
Since 1997, Comic Market (Comiket) has cooperated with the Japanese Red Cross Association to conduct blood donation activities at the biennial event. The Comiket planning committee’s commitment to these activities was great to say the least, with many people participating in the blood donation event for a good cause. The collaboration between the organizations is now 26 years old and still going strong. For Comiket’s dedication to this partnership, they received the prestigious Gold Medal from the Japanese Red Cross on October 26.

The Comiket planning committee announced that they received the award through a Tweet on November 21. During the 5th Tokyo Reiwa Red Cross Conference at Meji Shrine, Comiket representative Kahoru Yasuda received the award from Honorary Vice President of the Japanese Red Cross, Princess Hitachi.

Further detailing the committee’s report, Comiket representatives Yasuda, Yoshiyuki Fudetani, and Kōichi Ichikawa wrote about how they simply provided a space and organized blood support events and that many Comiket participants themselves had Blood Donation. They look forward to sharing the joy of receiving the award with all the participants who donated blood and requested the award to be given to Comic Market. concluded the report stating that Comiket will continue to cooperate with the Japanese Red Cross and hopes event participants will continue to donate blood.
