Devil fruits are a central element in the “One Piece” universe, serving as the main source of power in the series. Devil Fruits are found throughout the One Piece world and most commonly in the Grand Line, giving the person who eats them extraordinary strength, but in exchange they lose the ability to swim.
Here are 8 characters who abuse the power of devil fruits instead of developing other abilities:
Doflamingo and Ito Ito no Mi
Doflamingo, former king of Dressrosa and former Shichibukai, ate the Ito Ito no Mi devil fruit. Thereby allowing him to control and create silk threads from his own body. Even Doflamingo has awakened his devil fruit powers.
However, Doflamingo did not properly develop Haki, a weakness that was revealed during his battle with Luffy. This limitation is very important in his defeat against the main character.
Jack and Zou Zou no Mi, Model: Mammoth
Jack, one of the stars of the Beast Pirates. The Zoan-type Devil Fruit that Jack ate gives the user extraordinary endurance, making him a formidable opponent.
However, Jack appears weak in other aspects of combat. His Haki is underdeveloped, making Jack’s powers almost entirely dependent on the abilities provided by his Devil Fruit.
Ace and Mera Mera no Mi
Ace is one of the most famous pirates of today. He ate the Logia Devil Fruit, Mera Mera no Mi. Despite having good control over his three types of Haki, it is clear that Ace still relies too much on his devil fruit. Thus limiting his overall potential in combat.
Crocodile and Suna Suna no Mi
Former Shichibukai Crocodile is known for his mastery of the Suna Suna no Mi. He has great control over his Devil Fruit powers and there are signs that Crocodile may have awakened his powers, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
Crocodile focuses too much on his Devil Fruit powers and ignores training in other important aspects such as his senses and additional abilities.
Eustace Kid and Jiki Jiki no Mi
Eustace Kid was a notable member of the worst generation of pirates. He ate the Jiki Jiki no Mi fruit, which allows him to control the power of magnetism. Kid was even able to awaken his devil fruit powers, demonstrating his high level of skill.
However, Kid showed that he only had basic control over Haki, preferring to focus more on his Devil Fruit powers.
Trafalgar Law and Ope Ope no Mi
Trafalgar Law is another pirate from the Worst Generation, recognized for his outstanding strength and a bounty of 3 billion berries. His skill in using the Ope Ope no Mi greatly contributed to his reputation and strength.
Despite having great control over Haki, which was demonstrated mainly after the events in Wano and during the fight against Blackbeard, Law still relied heavily on the power of his devil fruit.
Kizaru and Pika Pika no Mi
Kizaru is one of the Marine Admirals who is extremely dependent on the Pika Pika no Mi’s ability. Kizaru often uses his Devil Fruit abilities in combat, rarely using Haki. This limited his potential in battle, as he did not fully exploit the use of Haki.
Big Mom and Soru Soru no Mi
Big Mom also relies too much on devil fruit abilities. Although she has the ability to control special Haki, including Armament Haki and Conqueror’s Haki, she often focuses on her Devil Fruit powers.
During the fight against Kid and Law, the story created by Oda focuses more on Big Mom’s devil fruit powers, ignoring the use of Conqueror’s Haki.
