Konoha Akisato returns to the year 2023 when she moves to a park somewhere in Tokyo. She could stay in the past, but Konoha still needed to face the present.
And speaking of Akisato, her eroge collection is getting smaller due to her meddling with history. Now it seems Konoha is in a dilemma of whether to save Alcohol Soft or not.
Actually, Konoha decided to return to the past when she chose Kanon, Key’s classic visual novel released in 1999. No, I don’t want Kanon to disappear-
Oh my god, she opened content like Konoha Akisato will travel to 1999, the last year of the 20th century.
Oh yeah, when he arrived here in 1999, Konoha found that Alcohol Soft’s office had transformed from a two-story building into a proper office complex.
This is where Blue Bell had its tenants during the Reiwa Era, but the important thing is that Konoha has returned to the past!
And indeed, both Kaori Shimoda and Meiko Uehara were happy to see Konoha return after a three-year absence.
Oh and during Akisato’s absence, Alcohol Soft had success with its latest visual novel.
This is Horoscope, the latest visual novel from Alcohol Soft, where it has made them famous in the bishoujo game industry. And it’s all thanks to Akisato even though she went missing after 1996.
And thanks to the success of Horograph, Alcohol Soft recruited some new people like Senri (Lalako) and Mari (Kikiko) Koyama, the Kikilala twins responsible for writing the story in addition to Kiyoshi Gomikawa.
p>
Joining the twins is Hashimoto-san where she is responsible for marketing Alcohol Soft’s games.
I’m glad that the company has grown so much, but wait a minute, where is Mamoru Rokuda?
Oh, he’s finally grown up, now wearing sports glasses to look cooler.
On the other hand, I wonder if Mamoru is still determined to make PC-98 games or has he switched to programming Windows 98 games?
Anyway, this is Masaru Rokuda, Mamoru’s father, who is living a luxurious life even though the bubble economy era is over.
Oh yeah, President Masaru Rokuda introduces his friend named Touyo Ichigaya, president of Diamond Soft, where his company will produce the console version of Horoscope.
Why? Because Ichigaya-san saw the potential to turn Alcohol Soft’s masterpiece into a multimedia brand like ToHeart and Kanon. Then again, I doubted whether Diamond Soft would be successful but nonetheless Alcohol Soft accepted the offer.
Meanwhile, it seems Mamoru Rokuda is starting to understand Konoha Akisato’s time travel phenomenon as he tells Konoha not to change history.
Of course, the reason Akisato traveled back in time was because she wanted to work at a company where they were passionate about making video games. I mean, Konoha is so sick of doing menial jobs in Blue Bell that she wants to step out of her comfort zone.
Now, it looks like Masaru Rokuda will meet Touyo Ichigaya while driving a convertible. He’s living the high life like it’s 1988!
By the way, Mamoru-kun found a calling card belonging to the Kogyaru Club, a cosplay pub club owned by Touyo Ichigaya.
It seemed like Mamoru Rokuda was really suspicious about his father’s friend, so Mamoru asked Konoha to tail his father because he might get into hot water.
Meanwhile, here’s Touyo Ichigaya, where he introduced the TV producer to both Kaori Shimoda and Meiko Uehara.
You see, Diamond Soft not only plans to create a console port of Horoscope, but also make a television anime adaptation of the visual novel. Man, he’s really trying to turn Horoscope into a franchise.
For Kaori and Meiko, it was quite shocking news because even though they were excited, I thought Diamond Soft should work on the console port first.
Anyway, back to Konoha Akisato where a girl approaches her, almost as if she knows Konoha.
It turns out that she is actually Touya Yamada, not only does she shine, but she also works as a character illustrator at a famous video game company thanks to Akisato’s help.
Man, I have to say she changed Touya’s life but either way, it’s time for Konoha to go after Mamoru’s father.
And here’s Masaru Rokuda, where he’s getting drunk with two waitresses, bad-mouthing his staff for treating him like a leech.
You know something, it would be bad if his drunken conversation was recorded by some malicious person.
Or some curious employee like Konoha Akisato, where she saw and heard everything from the drunken president. God, this would hurt Masaru-san so much if Konoha recorded it.
And sure enough, his drunken ramblings were recorded when people were really angry at the president.
And talking about Chairman Masaru Rokuda, he is trying to deny everything about what he said. Unfortunately for the president, there is more bad news for him…
This is Hashimoto-san, who told everyone that Chairman Touyu Ichigaya had been arrested. Wait, seriously?
Oh shit, he gets caught by the police when the announcer reveals that Ichigaya-san was arrested for alleged fraud. Well, there is a console port of Horoscope.
However, for Masaru Rokuda, this news shook him to his core when it was revealed that he had given the company’s money to Touya Ichigaya worth one billion yen. What the hell is he thinking!?
In addition, Masaru Rokuda was hospitalized due to shock when he learned his money was stolen. Now I’m worried that he won’t have enough money to pay his hospital bills.
Now I know the reason why Alcohol Soft doesn’t exist in 2023 is because Chairman Rokuda was severely cheated. With no money left, bankruptcy seemed inevitable.
Of course, Konoha Akisato didn’t want to end Alcohol Soft when she asked Mamoru Rokuda to make a bishoujo game that would sell for billions of dollars to pay off the company’s debt.
Meanwhile I applaud Konoha’s enthusiasm, how will Alcohol Soft make a game that can make them a billion yen?
Hell, even the staff were skeptical about Konoha’s plan since their morale was currently low. That’s where Akisato shows his trump card… from the future!
That’s right, that was her illustration from her tablet, in which Kaori opened her eyes and was fascinated by the intricate details of Konoha’s work.
While it’s nothing special in her current timeline, this was quite revolutionary in 1999.
Unfortunately, implementing this illustration is impossible because there is no hardware capable of compiling 200 classes in a single file without problems.
Well, that’s where Mamoru Rokuda comes into play as he creates a supercomputer using a series of PC-9821 Ra’s and calls it the PC-9821 MATE Super Octa-Core!
Now it’s impossible to create a supercomputer using proprietary (and outdated) hardware, but all problems are solved with Mamoru’s favorite PC platform from NEC.
Thanks to Mamoru’s supercomputer, Konoha can draw anything without stuttering. And lest you think she could finally create some great art, there’s more to come from this monstrosity…
It turns out it’s capable of animating characters, almost like the prototype version of Live2D.
Although this is truly a technical marvel, Mamoru should not forget that he needed to program this feature into the Windows 98 version.
Meanwhile, Masaru Rokuda lookalike exits the hospital carrying a large bag thinking it was Touyo Ichigaya’s stolen money.
However, it turns out that this large bag contains production notes for the console port of Horoscope. Even though he may be a scumbag, I’m impressed that Ichigaya-san knows how to make a successful video game.
With that said, it seems Masaru Rokuda wants to make up for his mistake by helping the team create their latest visual novel alongside the console port of Horoscope.
And speaking of console ports, will they port it to Sony Playstation or Sega Dreamcast?
One more thing, it seems Hashimoto-san showed off her dakimakura to Konoha Akisato when she suggested to the marketing director to make this merchandise.
Come on, dakimakuras will be the future of character-inspired merchandise, where fans can finally hug their oshi while they sleep.
In any case, it looks like Alcohol Soft is starting to bounce back soon with not only the console port of Horograph but also their new game that will change the landscape of visual novels.
Of course, I hope that the system requirements for their new game aren’t a little taxing on the current hardware of that era. Come on, Japanese users are hesitant to buy the latest graphics cards and CPUs that can run the latest visual novels.
One last thing, it seems Mamoru Rokuda found an old eroge titled Gogo no Tenshi-tachi from Konoha’s backpack. It may look like some fictional game now, but it’s based on an old eroge by JAST titled Tenshi-tachi no Gogo.
With that said, things are getting weirder as not only is Akisato’s collection of classic visual novels disappearing from her backpack, but this old eroge is luring Mamoru-kun into opening it. Actually I wish he wouldn’t open-
Oh my, he actually unboxed his copy of Gogo no Tenshi-tachi! Now I’m worried that he’ll be sent further back in time or even into the future.
So, that’s it for Episodes 5 to 7 since unfortunately their sole programmer went AWOL upon accidentally opening an eroge, I have a feeling that the next episode will focus on Mamoru’s adventures .
Will he return to 1985 or 2023? More importantly, will Mamoru Rokuda return to his current timeline of 1999? We’ll find out next time!
