Susumu Kuroi, a light novel artist known for illustrating I Was Sold for the Lowest Price in My Class, Yet My Personal Specs Are the Strongest, has created a piece of fan art incredible about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Kuroi uploaded a digital illustration of the latest Nintendo Switch game on his official Twitter account. His fan art includes the three central characters of Tears of the Kingdom: Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon – or more accurately, his human form Ganondorf. Link, taking center stage in the illustration, is seen using one of his new abilities via his new gloved arm. Zelda was at the bottom left with a worried expression, while Ganondorf looked to the right proudly.
Kuroi introduces the stressful process behind the illustration
While Kuroi’s Legend of Zelda’s fan art is an amazing testament to his talent, it didn’t work out without a few trial and error. In another tweet, Kuroi uploaded a video of him illustrating the Tears of the Kingdom fan art, sped up and condensed to half a minute. As the video shows, he is constantly editing his illustrations. Map the positions of the characters, adjust the lighting, and powerfully blend different colors. As one can imagine, it took Kuroi over 30 seconds to complete his artwork, but it was worth it in the end.
Kuroi’s fan art appeared during the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch. The sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s 2017 release once again redefines open world gaming for a new generation. While the Nintendo sequel experienced multiple delays and unexpected price increases to $69.99, reviews praised Tears of the Kingdom for its appeal and creativity. Make it clear that the latest Zelda game is worth the six-year wait.
In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Ganon’s sudden revival causes a catastrophic reaction across Hyrule. Link, once again, finds himself responsible for saving Hyrule (and Princess Zelda) from Ganon’s clutches before it’s too late. While Tears of the Kingdom allows the player to revisit past locations from Breath of the Wild, the main focus of the game is on exploring Hyrule’s newly defined landscape, horizontally and vertically. Helping Link soar to the clouds above are his new abilities tied to an arm passed down from ancient times. One ability allows Link to fuse two useless items to form a deadly weapon, while the other allows him to soar to the top of any ceiling in an instant.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now on Nintendo Switch.
