The new poster for Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen looks familiar to some Yuri!!! on Ice fans.
Yuuri!!! on Ice has been quiet for three years, since the production team released a note to reassure fans that the actual Ice Adolescence animated film is still in the works. Not sure if it’s Yuri or not!!! on Ice fans will be re-watching their favorite series, but perhaps Jujutsu Kaisen can fill the void in fans’ hearts at the moment. Fans have noticed some similarities between the poster for the newly released visuals for the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen and Yuri!!! on Ice, especially the color scheme and pose. @/goatgumi uploaded two posters side by side.

One Twitter user humorously but bitterly wrote: “’Is this the new one? [Yuri!!! on Ice].” Another pointed out that Jujutsu Kaisen could be Ice Teenage in disguise, writing, “Maybe [Jujutsu Kaisen] is the infamous Yuri on Ice movie they promised us a long time ago.” However, another fan jokingly wrote, “They said it was only possible [be] ONE gay plot this year,” apparently referring to how many people in the Jujutsu Kaisen fanbase often ship Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto because of their long and angry history. Several Twitter users noted how Gojo and Victor Nikiforov from Yuri!!! Ice looks the same, with one going so far as to create a Venn diagram between the two, writing “White-haired, blue-eyed gays” in the middle.
Both productions come from MAPPA, the company that has become one of the biggest names in the animation industry, Jujutsu Kaisen has enjoyed huge success with its animated film adaptations. The first season, directed by Sunghoo Park, premiered in October 2020 and received rave reviews for the director’s choice of creating a cohesive storyline. The first season won multiple awards, including Anime of the Year at the 2021 Crunchyroll Awards and Animation of the Year (Television) at the 2022 Tokyo Anime Awards. Park continues to direct the Jujutsu Kaisen prequel film 0 , the series enjoyed a similar resounding success, becoming the highest-grossing film at the Japanese box office in 2021. Shōta Goshozono, who directed several episodes from Season 1, will replace Park as director. director. director for Part 2. Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen airs on July 6. There is no information regarding Ice Adolescence’s release date.
