Hello everyone and welcome back to Wrong Every Time. Today seems like a perfect opportunity to return to the TV series Yuki Yuna is a Hero, where we are all currently watching the skies and waiting for a certain celestial second shoe falling. Having supposedly defeated their enemies and completed their mission as heroes in the fifth episode, the gang is now plagued by mysterious wounds and uncertain expectations, the tight-knit community of they are the only shield against whatever comes next. Although their supervisors insisted their symptoms would subside, there was no real indication that their contacts knew what was going on – or if they did, they were willing to keep such secrets with their troops in the field.
Personally, I couldn’t be more pleased with this exciting change of fortune. The idea of overcoming the standard magical girl model, completing your monumental quest, and attempting to reintegrate into normal life, seems like a novel and intriguing way to explore these motivations. truly guiding our young heroes. Additionally, their treatment as veterans abandoned by their country feels like a natural thematic extension of Yuki Yuna’s interrogation of genre assumptions, placing the girls of we enter a long and storied tradition of post-war drama. Let’s see how they get on in the new episode of Yuki Yuna!
Episode 7
We open to completely peaceful scenes, the color design usually reserved for Yuna’s hometown now illuminated by the sun, sparkling in the reflected sunlight. The overall summer atmosphere is further enhanced by the sound of cicadas in the air, leading to Yuna’s proud declaration that they have beaten all the highs and summer vacation has arrived.
“The Taisha has arranged a retreat for us as a reward.” Well, at least they’re still on vacation.
Yuna seems to be announcing all this exhibition outdoors, causing Tougou to ask what the hell she’s talking about
I like Togo’s unique beach-ready wheelchairs. Always appreciated the care this program took to recognize her disability
Unfortunately, it seems their wounds from blooming have not yet healed
And of course Karin will use this vacation as an opportunity to get more competitive, asking Fuu to face her in a race on the beach
“I was once known as Seto’s Mermaid.” Fuu’s blindfold only amplified the power of the old man’s fairy tales and wisdom
“When I was in kindergarten, I swam for about 5 years.” Damn Fuu
“I will show her that a talented soldier is also excellent even underwater.” It’s fun to see their personalities clash in less extreme circumstances
Huh, I’ve never seen this game before – Karin and Yuki basically compete in a form of “beach jenga”, seeing how much sand they can remove from around the stick before the stick falls over.
“I’m hungry.” “Let’s take a bite of Karin for now.” Karin seems to have fully integrated into the gang at this point, joining in on their silly games and countering their jokes.
When investigating their remaining injuries, Tougou seemed to be the first to suspect something was wrong. The group finds her looking out to sea, no doubt wondering what new enemies are waiting to appear. Surely the threat from the peaks couldn’t be so concentrated that a group of heroes could defeat them in a few battles, right?
But that was enough, they had a feast to enjoy! Damn crab!
“This place is connected to the Taisha.” The Taisha’s seemingly limitless influence seems at odds with the local, provincial nature of our heroes’ victory. If the war ended that easily, this infrastructure would not be necessary
And Yuna once again worked to dispel the others’ suspicions, making it clear how much she appreciated the texture of the dish, as she couldn’t register its true flavor
“Come home past curfew and I’ll tie you to a post.” “Now honey, that’s gone too far.” Tougou and Yuna are definitely two of the most married characters I’ve ever met. This play takes place right after Yuna calls her “my princess,”
The group continued their beach trip and meal with a trip to the hot springs. We’re really maximizing our vacation episodes here, huh
And next is sharing the secret of love on futon mattresses. I appreciated the detail where Fuu tried to authoritatively control this conversation by forcing the others to announce it was time for a love story, but then felt awkward when Tougou asked her to. repeat. Fuu’s leader-like appearance is partly aspirational – she projects strength, hoping to reassure others even if she doesn’t necessarily convince herself
Despite her generally no-nonsense attitude, Karin is still extremely curious to hear about Fuu’s short-lived romance.
“Boys our age all look like children.” Yes, romance is an awkward prospect in middle school—everyone goes through puberty at an uneven pace, everyone is just acting out what they think they’ll be like as a confident teenager, and others seemed like they had a better life. handle things better than you
As soon as Ibuki appears, Tougou embarks on the ultimate hot spring holiday convention: telling ghost stories. Well, technically the entire conference will include some kind of test of courage, but we only have so much time to cover all the highlights here
At some point during the night, Karin had to push a Fuu migrant back into her futon. The relationship between these two men has developed well over time – their initial disagreements about leadership have developed into a strong mutual trust, each coming to respect their own confidence and ideals. the other person’s reason
“Everything better, Itsuki? I’m very happy.” After first pushing Fuu away, Karin heard her mutter in her sleep about her real worries—the fear that these illnesses would never go away and that it was her leadership that causing her sister to lose her voice. And so Karin relented, letting Fuu hold her, sharing the weight
In the morning, Tougou and Yuna woke up before everyone else. Tougou reveals that the ribbon she always carries with her was from before her accident—she knew it must be important, but didn’t understand why.
“The cusps are based on the twelve zodiac constellations, right? But there are more constellations than that.” Hoo boy, let’s get started
“I wonder why peaks always appear where we are. We will be in trouble if they appear from the Pacific side.” “That’s because the Divine Tree weakens its shield at a specific point to control where the enemy passes through.” Huh, I suppose the mystery is solved
Yuna is relieved to learn that the Tree has a specific conscious will, though I’m not sure how comforting I personally find that fact.
“It’s like you said in the hospital. We have to enjoy ourselves to make up for lost time.” That tension pervades this seemingly carefree episode. They were all showing a peaceful happiness, trying to convince each other and themselves that nothing was wrong.
“If being alone gives you negative thoughts, I will be there for you even more. today as usual.” These two are very compatible
In our post-credits, Fuu receives a text sending her to the hero club room, where a suitcase contains their old hero phones. “We expect an attack within forty days of the new moon.”
And it’s done
And so the idyllic summer days of the hero club have ended! Though really, it’s hard to describe their vacation as carefree in the first place – all of them except Karin are still suffering from residual wounds from their previous battle, and I doubt anyone Some of them truly believe their work is over. Still, it was nice to get a brief respite from their military duties, especially now that their team had established a strong sense of trust and companionship. With the God Tree seeming less reliable and trustworthy in this episode, it’s clear that the warriors of the hero club can only rely on each other—and this episode provides plenty of examples of trust. In action, Karin even learns to rely on her friends. and in turn act as an emotional pillar for them. Let’s hope their solidarity is enough to survive the coming storm!
