While Yugi used many powerful cards in the process Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, he overcame his strongest monster in a unique way. Given that Yugi is the King of the Game, it’s no surprise that he was able to defeat some very powerful monsters, but what makes this victory unique is the way in which he won. It was such a creative victory that Yugi was actually the only fighter in the series to have succeeded.
There are only a few ways to win the Duel Monsters card game that Yu-Gi-Oh! is based around. The most common technique is through damaging the opponent and eventually taking their life to zero. There are also some special cards that offer their users an alternative win condition, such as Exodia the Forbidden One, which Yugi used in his first incredible win over Kaiba. However, there is also a final win condition called Deck out, which is said to be the rarest win condition of all. If a gladiator runs out of cards in their deck and is therefore unable to draw then they lose the game. This almost never happens in Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, but it happened at the end of Yugi’s match with Strings.
Yugi Got Slifer in Yu-Gi-Oh’s only victory!
Strings is a puppet of Marik, the biggest villain of Yu-Gi-Oh!, who wields the extremely powerful Slifer the Sky Dragon. This monster is nearly impossible to defeat, especially when Strings performs a combo to draw a huge amount of cards to increase its attack power. However, Yugi was able to skillfully use that combo to his advantage. By taking control of Strings’ strategic peg and using it to counter Slifer’s auto-destruction, Yugi can actually force Strings to draw his entire deck, thus losing the match through the Deck. This then helps Yugi win his rarest card, which is Slifer the Sky Dragon, the most powerful of Yugi’s most iconic cards.
This is an amazing feat that marks Yugi as essentially the only duelist in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime to really win through this method. The only other duelist to achieve the same feat was Pegasus, who used the Crush Card Virus to destroy all the monsters in Kaiba’s deck, which effectively helped him win through Deck out. However, the rules of the game in Duelist Kingdom are not as specific as in Battle City onwards, so Yugi’s victory is much more impressive and technical. There was another gladiator, Leon, who tried to take down Yugi with a strong card called The Golden Castle of Stromberg, but Yugi was able to win with the last card left in his deck.
Yugi’s Deck Out Victory Proves He’s The King Of The Game
Yugi’s victory over Strings proves that he is worthy of the title of King of the Game. Yugi has also won many other games through clever means, but his victory over Strings is arguably the most complicated. The uniqueness of the match he won against Slifer the Sky Dragon also makes that card all the more iconic, as it shows the compelling potential of YugiStrongest card of to carry Yu-Gi-Oh!The matches that followed were even more interesting.
