Yugi And Kaiba has one of the fiercest competition in anime history, but the former actually has a track record in Yu-Gi-Oh! and the latter is not. In fact, due to his own actions, Kaiba may never be able to achieve this feat. But in some ways, this is appropriate, as it suits Yugi better.
Almost as iconic as Yugi and Kaiba are their most famous monsters, the Dark Magician and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. In the anime, these are extremely rare and powerful cards that give Yugi and Kaiba an edge over other duels. In fact, Kaiba possessed the only three Blue-Eyes White Dragon clones in the world after he obtained the fourth Blue-Eyes from Yugi’s Grandfather and destroyed it. Yugi and Kaiba also have a number of other iconic cards, such as Kaiba’s Obelisk the Tormentor and Yugi’s Exodia and Slifer the Sky Dragon. But with each of these iconic cards, Yugi accomplished what Kaiba couldn’t.
Yugi defeated Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster when Kaiba isn’t there
The Battle City section features a massive tournament featuring rare Hunters, who duel using powerful rare cards in duels. During the competition, Yugi actually faced duels using each of his most iconic cards. First, he defeats Seeker, who used multiple copies of Exodia, the card Yugi used to resolve Kaiba’s first defeat. He then faced off against Arkana, who used an alternate version of the Dark Mage. He’s also up against Duelist Strings, who used Slifer the Sky Dragon before Yugi turned it into one of his most iconic cards. This meant that Yugi defeated duels using each of his most iconic cards, something Kaiba failed to do.
Given the rarity of the Blue-Eyed White Dragon, Kaiba has never faced another powerful gladiator using his own strategy. He faced an AI of his own design playing three Blue-Eyed White Dragons as a test, but that was hardly comparable to fighting a real person. It might have happened in his duel with Yugi’s grandfather, but he’s a frail old man so the victory isn’t that impressive. During a duel with Pegasus in the Duelist kingdom, Pegasus stole Kaiba’s Blue-Eyed White Dragon and turned it into Toon’s Blue-Eyed White Dragon, but Seto couldn’t really win that game. This means that Kaiba was never really able to overcome his own monsters in the same way that Yugi did.
If Kaiba ever realized this, it would probably make him quite annoyed given how fierce his rivalry with Yugi was. But at the same time, it makes sense that Yugi would achieve this feat while Kaiba would not, since Yugi is the King of the Game and thus can beat any strategy, including his own. So while Kaiba can have many great dueling achievements in Yu-Gi-Oh!he will never be able to compare Yugithe ability to beat your own cards and strategies.
