Yu Yu Hakusho's Toguro has gotten his iconic sunglasses thanks to a new collection from Bandai. Toguro's edgy signature sunglasses are now available for pre-order for a limited time.
Bandai recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) the release of a replica of the Toguro sunglasses, featuring the same sharp black frames and lenses as in Yu Yu Hakusho. The sunglasses are currently available for pre-order on Bandai Premium, priced at 9,900 yen (about $69). While Bandai's Japanese website only ships within Japan, other licensed retailers offer international shipping for the same product, albeit at a slightly higher price; Hobby Genki lists the sunglasses for international pre-order for 10,790 yen (about $75). Bandai's pre-order window will close on October 14, 2024, at 11 p.m. JST, and the glasses will ship in February 2025.
Bandai Releases Replica of Toguro's Iconic Sunglasses from the Classic Shonen Manga Yu Yu Hakusho
Yu Yu Hakusho, considered a classic of shounen, first debuted as a manga by Yoshihiro Togashi in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1990, and was later adapted into an anime by Studio Pierrot in 1992. The story follows Yusuke Urameshi, a teenage delinquent who died saving a child and is given a chance to return to life as a Psychic Detective, dedicated to investigating supernatural activities on Earth. Toguro, one of Yusuke's strongest enemies, is a human-turned-demon warrior who can control and manipulate his muscle mass at will. His cold and calculating demeanor rarely changes, usually shown by his signature black sunglasses that he wears even in battle. Toguro's sunglasses were destroyed by Yusuke's Spirit Gun during their battle in the Dark Tournament.
Yu Yu Hakusho can be streamed on Netflix, Hulu, Crunchyroll, and Prime Video. Netflix's critically acclaimed live-action adaptation of Yu Yu Hakusho is also available to stream.
