For a long time, the robot cat Doreamon has become a symbol associated with the childhood of many generations of viewers. After decades, the appeal of the manga created by artist Fujiko F. Fujio has not diminished, partly thanks to the success of the animated series of the same name.

Recently, Shin-Ei Animation continues to introduce Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia (Vietnamese title: Doraemon: Nobita and the ideal land in the sky) – the 42nd part in the series.

With new content and invested images, the work is quickly received by domestic and foreign audiences, currently topping the chart of hit movies in Vietnam.

Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia is the 42nd film about the robot cat Doraemon.

The new journey of “the cat”

The story of the film is based on the idea of Utopia – which is a perfect world located in the air. According to legend, it is a place where people no longer hate and war but only do good things for each other. Not only that, every citizen in Utopia has become an elite person who is both good at studying and cute, friendly,…

Accidentally knowing that information, Nobita wanted to go to Utopia because of her inferiority complex, thinking that she was always a weak student, far behind her friends. Nobita believes that this place can turn him into a completely different person, no longer betraying his family.

However, the journey also helps the characters realize the little-known truths behind the perfection of the land in the air.

The screenplay is simple, following the usual linear order, so it’s easy to watch, suitable for young audiences. The way to build the situation, the climax still follows the familiar motif of the previous Doraemon movies. At the end, the crew also intentionally installed some twists to create a surprise.

The film tells the journey of the characters to find the ideal land in the air.

A special feature in this part is that Doraemon’s treasures are no longer so magical. Compared to the competition, the cat’s tools become old and outdated. That makes the battle between the parties more attractive and unpredictable.

The character’s personality is still the point that helps the film win sympathy with viewers. Nobita is a clumsy boy with many dreams. Shizuka loves to bathe, Jaian bullies his friends and Suneo is mean and petty. Meanwhile, Doraemon is always a companion, helping Nobita whenever he is in trouble.

Like the previous installments, the script cleverly incorporates many positive messages about friendship. After the journey, the members of Doraemon’s group became closer and closer to each other. They also made some new friends and left many fond memories.

Images and music are invested

In this project, the production team decided to combine 2D and 3D graphics to build the story. This is a popular direction, making the success of many recent cartoons, typically The First Slam Dunk (2022).

The team makes use of 2D and 3D technology to draw frames.

With familiar drawings, the characters in the comic appear close to the children, and at the same time bring back many childhood memories with the adult audience.

Meanwhile, 3D technology plays an important role in building the fantasy land of Utopia. Every detail is taken care of, helping the frame come to life, creating a dreamy world beyond the viewer’s imagination.

The battle scenes are meticulously portrayed, edited with a fast pace to create drama for the film. Many humorous details are also properly integrated to balance the audience’s emotions, enticing viewers to the last minute.

Besides the image, the music is also a remarkable point. The songs are used at the right time, contributing to making the film more emotional. However, the work is limited in the predictable script. The messages the writer sends are still familiar, not much creative compared to the whole series.

The film created quite good effects when it was released.

When premiered in Japan in March, the work was quickly received by the audience at home. According to data from Box Office Mojothe film continuously topped the box office chart for many weeks in a row.

Although it came to Vietnamese theaters quite late, the reaction of the audience in our country was still very good, largely because the original series gathered a large number of fans. The project is now surpassing the movie Mermaid of Disney and blockbusters Fast X to keep at the top of the Box Office Vietnam rankings. Up to now, the work has collected more than 38 billion VND at the box office.

2 years ago, the predecessor Doraemon: Nobita and the tiny space war (2021) also won big in Vietnam, earning nearly 50 billion VND. Therefore, it is highly likely that the latest movie about a robotic cat will continue to “sweep” our country’s market for a while longer.

General, Doraemon: Nobita’s Sky Utopia still score points thanks to beautiful images and meaningful content. This is a suitable entertainment option for the family, especially the audience at a young age.
