In the modern world of Jujutsu Kaisen, the overall power of curses has been greatly reduced. At times like these, Gojo’s mere existence is like a miracle. After all, Gojo is the first child in over 400 years to be born with Six Eyes.
His birth changed the balance of the world. The decline of the Jutusu world was only stopped thanks to one child. The growing power of curses is also due to Gojo’s existence. The overall quality of Jujutsu masters has increased significantly over the years.
If before, the modern magicians in Jujutsu Kaisen were all weak, so the birth of Gojo was the turning point. Now, Jujutsu Kaisen suddenly introduces characters like Fumihiko Takaba and Hirmo Higuruma, who have the potential to surpass Gojo.
Why can these Jujutsu Kaisen characters surpass Gojo?
What’s interesting is that Gojo himself answered this question right at the beginning of the series. Chapter 18 is about the first conversation between principal Gakuganji and Gojo. The silver-haired teacher mentioned his encounter with Jogo, an unregistered cursed spirit with the ability to communicate.
As a teacher, Gojo clearly knew that the quality of young spellcasters was also increasing along with the curses. Students like Yuta, Hakari and Todo are appearing more often these days, unlike in his time when there were hardly any decent first level spellcasters.
Given enough time, these students are capable of achieving things that his generation could not. Gojo claims that soon the time will come when the new generation will no longer be limited to special classes. The wave of power that senior leaders are desperately clinging to has become more than they can handle now.
The new power that Gojo talks about actually refers to the younger generation and newly awakened magicians like Higuruma and Takaba. These two were not ordinary spellcasters, they had shown great improvement in two months. For that reason, it would be reasonable to compare them to the pinnacle of the modern Jujutsu world – Satoru Gojo.
That means these events were foretold from the beginning. The balance of power is changing drastically and the world is suffering the consequences. Gojo always believed that the future of the Jujutsu world was changing and that talented people were appearing who could surpass him.
Gojo’s legacy is his students and they will follow in his footsteps to accomplish his goals. By the end of the series, the world of Jujutsu will change, and perhaps it will be more like what Gojo envisioned many years ago.
