Jujutsu Kaisen is in the middle of the Shinjuku Showdown arc and with each new chapter it seems to be getting closer and closer to the end. At Jump Festa 2024, the author said the series will end this year. This means that the plot will end in this arc, and then we will only see the aftermath of what happened in this war.
After everything comes to an end, a lot will certainly change in the Jujutsu Kaisen universe. And one of the questions that remains unanswered is: “Who will be the next strongest spellcaster?”.
The strongest spellcaster today
Until the final part of Jujutsu Kaisen, no one wondered who was the strongest magician. That position belongs to Gojo Satoru, without question. He was born with absurd strength, inheriting the power of Unlimited and Six Eyes, a combination not seen in 400 years.
It can be said that the birth of Gojo has changed the balance of the entire world. But that doesn't mean he didn't work hard to get where he is. Even though he is a prodigy, Gojo still spends a lot of time perfecting his skills to the maximum.
He discovered his full potential and became one of the most powerful and creative warriors anyone has ever seen in the series. Skill and natural talent have brought Gojo to the top, the strongest magician today. And you can even compare his skills with Ryomen Sukuna. In the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Gojo gets the chance to test his skills against the king of curses.
Unfortunately, Gojo didn't get the win but it was still a fierce fight. Gojo almost would have won with a little more luck. But in the end, he lost, and with his defeat, he also lost his title as the strongest spellcaster. Now that the position is vacant again, it will be interesting to see who will take the position after the battle of Shinjuku.
The Fall of Sukuna
Before talking about who will be the new strongest spellcaster, we have to mention Sukuna, who is currently the center of attention in Jujutsu Kaisen. Sukuna is gaining ground in Shinjuku and needs to be controlled. The necromancers have assembled a team to try to stop the Curse King, and it's not easy.
Sukuna is attacking everyone and it doesn't look like he's going to stop anytime soon. However, at some point Sukuna will have to fall, and this is important to the outcome of the story.
Perhaps the one who ends Sukuna will be Yuji. Some fans may disagree, but Yuji will play an important role in the climax of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. When this happens, the battle will finally end. And then we will be able to argue about who is the strongest spellcaster.
The strongest magicians remain at the end of the story
When we start thinking about who is the strongest spellcaster at the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, a few names come up that attract attention. First up, we have the man who is said to be the next Gojo, Yuta Okkotsu. Yuta is extremely strong and his connection with Rika makes him even stronger.
He has also mastered the reverse curse technique and has more cursed energy than Gojo. Putting all of this together, Yuta is definitely one of the contenders to claim the title of strongest spellcaster after the Gojo era.
Then there's Kinji Hakari, who Gojo himself mentioned could reach his level of power. But between him and Yuta, it seems like Yuta has the advantage. And we can't forget Maki, who despite not having cursed energy has come a long way. Sukuna even spoke highly of Maki, who also caused Sukuna the most trouble for a while.
Or the genius Hiromi Higuruma, if cured, he could also compete for the position of the strongest spellcaster. But the person most likely to win this title is Yuji, the main character of the series. Yuji has everything it takes to become the strongest spellcaster. He showed incredible talent as a fighter in the Shinjuku Showdown arc and is improving. Now, Yuji has mastered reverse curse and blood manipulation techniques.
The guy still has a lot of room to grow and maybe even develop a domain expansion. Yuji's ability to use cursed energy only increases and when he finally defeats Sukuna, he will become one of the strongest we have ever seen.
Of course, there's always the intriguing possibility that Gojo will return from the dead. If that happened, needless to say, the silver-haired master would continue to hold his position as the strongest spellcaster, which would make a lot of people extremely happy.
