In Jujutsu Kaisen, the lore surrounding the use of Cursed Energy is fascinating, especially about individuals like Maki Zen’in and Toji Fushiguro, who lacked inherent abilities but found methods alternative to compete with Curse and Witchcraft. They achieve this through the use of Cursed Tools—weapons infused with Cursed Energy that allow them to deal exceptional damage.
Although the popularity of the Cursed Tool decreased somewhat as the Jujutsu Kaisen manga progressed, some items became significantly popular among fans. Among them, Playful Cloud stands out as one of the most famous Cursed Tools in the series.

Unique Power of Playful Cloud: Unique cursed tool in Jujutsu Kaisen
What sets Playful Cloud apart from typical Cursed Tools in Jujutsu Kaisen is its unique nature—it does not rely on channeling Cursed Energy, a rarity in the series.
Instead, this unique tool takes advantage of the user’s physical strength, making it especially suitable for individuals such as Maki Zen’in and Toji Fushiguro, who possess the Celestial World.
During the invasion of Jujutsu High depicted in Episode 0, Suguru Geto used Playful Cloud when confronting Satoru Gojo’s students, including Maki. Its effectiveness is evident when Geto quickly defeats his opponent.
Maki continued to use Playful Cloud in important episodes such as the Kyoto incident and the Shibuya Incident. A brief moment also saw Aoi Todo use this weapon during the Kyoto incident. However, it was during the Shibuya Incident that the Joyful Cloud truly shined.
Unfortunately, the weapon died when Toji revived, in his rampage to destroy the Curse known as Dagon, tearing it apart in the process.
Explore the shared journey of Maki Zen’in and Toji Fushiguro
Maki Zen’in and Toji Fushiguro stand out as two of the most beloved characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, and their popularity is well deserved considering their engaging designs, storylines, and unique fighting styles —a rarity in the series.
Both lacking Cursed Energy and relying solely on their extraordinary physical strength due to their Heavenly Restrictions, they are both prominent users of Cursed Tools.
Aside from their shared reliance on the Cursed Tool, Maki and Toji are often compared due to their similar backgrounds. Born into the Zen’in clan, they faced considerable adversity because they were not born witches, and endured abuse and discrimination as a result.
This similarity becomes even more apparent after Maki’s severe burns from Jogo in the Shibuya Incident arc.
As she adopts a hairstyle and clothing style reminiscent of Toji, the comparisons between the two characters become increasingly apparent.
