Summary
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #267 reveals that Gojo hid Sukuna's last finger so that Nobara could use it to damage Sukuna when she woke up from her coma. Yuta obtained Sukuna's Shrine technique by having Rika eat Yuji's finger, not Sukuna's, and used it to trick Sukuna. Nobara's return and the use of Sukuna's last finger theme marks the gradual end of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for chapters #266-#267 of Jujutsu Kaisen. Before the final battle with tribe IN Jujutsu KaisenUraume reveals that they were unable to find Sukuna's last finger, with Sukuna assuming that Gojo hid it somewhere to delay Yuji's execution indefinitely. Although the mystery of the missing finger is never directly addressed, it is later implied that Rika ate it so that Yuta could copy Sukuna's Temple technique, and that seemingly puts an end to the plot.
At first, it seemed like Jujutsu Kaisen had dealt with Sukuna's fingers, but that all changed in chapter #266. As Yuji and Sukuna's final battle inside Yuji's Domain unfolded, Chapter #266 of Jujutsu Kaisen ends with Sukuna's last finger sealed in a mysterious location.meaning both Sukuna and the audience were fooled about Rika eating Sukuna's pinky finger.
All of that leads to even more important developments in the final battle with Sukuna, and it's great to see all of that play out in the final five chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen.
Twenty Fingers of Sukuna
Cursed Items That Start the Jujutsu Kaisen Plot
Sukuna's fingers are an important part of the plot of Jujutsu Kaisen. The story actually begins with the appearance of one of them in Yuji's high school and the protagonist eating one of them to save Megumi is what really starts the story of Gege Akutami. These twenty fingers belonged to the legendary treacherous witch of the Heian Era, Sukuna, who used them to transcend the era and his death.
Over a thousand years before Jujutsu Kaisen began, Sukuna accepted Kenjaku's offer to join his plot involving the Annihilation Game. They made a pact and Kenjaku split Sukuna's soul into his twenty fingers, turning them into cursed objects, allows Sukuna to be reincarnated after deathThis happened when Yuji swallowed one of the fingers and Sukuna's soul took up residence in his body. This happened because Kenjaku sealed one of the fingers inside Yuji's body when he was born.
These items are extremely dangerous. As the seals that the jujutsu masters placed on them weaken, they begin to attract curses. At the beginning of the story, Tokyo Jujutsu High recovers six fingers, but eventually Nineteen of them are revealed. All of them were swallowed by Yuji first and then Megumi (after Sukuna took over his body), causing the Curse King to be reborn with almost full power, only missing one finger.
Explains how Yuta obtained Sukuna's shrine technique
Yuta & Gojo's Final Move Against Sukuna
This last finger was supposedly given to Rika by Yuta to obtain Sukuna's Shrine technique. Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #266 revealed that the mysterious glove Yuji wore in the last arc was to hide the fact that he was missing a second finger in addition to the one Sukuna ripped off to take over Megumi's body. It was a big cliffhanger for chapter #266, and thankfully, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #267 was quick to reveal that Rika eats one of Yuji's fingers to give Yuta a copy of the Shrine technique.
As for how it happened, in a flashback to everyone's month of training, Yuta asked Gojo to have Rika eat Sukuna's last finger, which only he knew the location of, but Gojo rejected the idea because keeping something that was directly linked to Sukuna would be more beneficial. So the only way for Yuta to get the Shrine technique without sacrificing Sukuna's finger was for Rika to eat one of Yuji's fingers, since while Yuji had yet to develop his version of the Shrine, Gojo confirmed that it existed inside him with his Six Eyes.
Sukuna's Last Finger Finally Saves Jujutsu Kaisen's Most Wasted Character
Nobara returns to Jujutsu Kaisen in stunning fashion
The reveal of Sukuna's final finger was a major twist, but there was more to it than that. Since Gojo insisted that maintaining a connection with Sukuna could be useful, it meant that he had a plan for this, but it didn't affect his fight or any other fight with Sukuna. However, in the middle of Jujutsu Kaisen #267, Gojo's true plan for Sukuna's finger was revealed: Nobara, waking up from his coma, used his cursed technique to attack Sukuna's soul through his finger. and prevent him from reopening his Domain.
Of course, Nobara being alive contradicts Jujutsu Kaisen chapter #265 which all but confirmed her death, but a previous chapter established that everyone was keeping it a secret from Yuji in case Sukuna was still mentally linked to him. Thus, Yuji was deliberately led to believe that Nobara was dead. so Sukuna would have no way of knowing she was alive. Nobara is the only one who can directly attack Sukuna's soul, so it makes sense for Gojo and the other characters to hide her as another trump card.
However, Nobara's return was a mixed bag. On one hand, Nobara's lack of development and relevance to the plot has always been a point of contention for people, especially when things progressed to the point where Nobara spent more time in the manga possibly dying than living. As such, Nobara being one of the key figures in Sukuna's defeat can be seen as a redemption for what she wasted in Jujutsu Kaisen.even if it only happens in the last five chapters of the manga.
Conversely, it was that lack of screen time that made Nobara's return criticized. This doesn't change the fact that she was given little development and screen time, even before she was put into a coma, and while it was nice to see her return, it only happened in the last five chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen. highlighting how the series wasted her character. The last few chapters could have given her more development, but with the lack of knowledge that seems unlikely.
Is the war against Sukuna over?
Has the final villain of Jujutsu Kaisen finally been defeated?
Thanks in no small part to Nobara using her cursed technique on Sukuna's finger, Yuji lands one major blow on Sukuna after another, including hitting him with the effect of his Domain, and chapter #267 ends with Yuji hitting Sukuna with a Black Flash so devastating that it causes his eyes to roll back into his head. In an earlier panel, Sukuna can also be seen spitting out one of his fingers. A few chapters ago it was made clear that while Sukuna is powerful, he's been in critical condition for a long time now, so Yuji's final blow to Sukuna in chapter #267 of Jujutsu Kaisen could be The final blow to the King of Curses.
Of course, that could easily not be the case. Sukuna has been a notoriously difficult opponent to deal with over the past year of fighting, and even with the amount of damage he has taken, he has still managed to outclass the heroes at almost every turn thanks to his constant use of Binding Vows and simply outclassing everyone in terms of strength. With that in mind, The combination of Nobara's Resonance and Yuji's Black Flash may not be enough to defeat Sukuna.and the end of the chapters will probably spend more time on fighting until Sukuna is actually defeated.
Even without the announcement that Jujutsu Kaisen's finale is only five chapters away, the series has clearly come to an end. Chapter #267 of Jujutsu Kaisen brings Sukuna's Last Finger Beating him was a perfect ending to the way Jujutsu Kaisen The story has already begun, so it would be unreasonable to continue any longer.
