In addition to Kaneko, it was also reported that animators Satoru Fujimoto and Toru Imanishi will also join as members administrative Council. The overall organization is described as having the ability to pool resources to flexibly produce video content for global distribution, social networks or other platforms. As for Nogami themselves, while they aim to produce original anime, they also intend to license it.
Kaneko has worked in the anime industry as a producer for nearly 30 years now, at least since the 1996 Saber Marionette series, although he has also notably worked on all five seasons of the Symphogear series. For its part, Twin Engine has helped facilitate the production of anime such as Vinland Saga, Golden Kamuy and the recent successful film adaptation of Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, thanks in part to the number of studios under its patronage. Looking back, Kaneko and Twin Engine got along well, as he was brought in by a company that recognized his talent to lead their newest studio.
While there’s no doubt that Nagomi studios will deliver exciting new anime, especially since Kaneko helped direct a five seasons’ worth of original IP, its secondary goal is to license It’s clear that the company will be juggling roles. In such a case, its support with other studios in EOTA could involve roles other than animation. So it remains to be seen how Nogami will perform within the organization. However, Kaneko’s new position is an acknowledgment of his importance to anime productionand what he can bring to Twin Engine and its future projects.
