The maker of the digital card game “Champions of Otherworldly Magic” said it spent $90,000 on the artwork. All that money was paid to a single “AI artist”, who received 15,000 USD (~ nearly 400 million VND) monthly despite spending less than 1 hour working each day.
“We pay our AI artists $15,000 per month for exactly 10 hours of work,” said a Twitter/X post from the official Champions TCG account. “Why? During that time, he still created hundreds of amazing works of art — more quickly and reliably than any other group of traditional artists,”
“His work is 100% created with AI, however it has no redundant details, no repetitive designs, no errors… It is a consistent development, look and feel, art style top art. Among the artists we have worked with, no one is at his level. We don't care how he makes it, we only care about the end user Do you like the cards, like our games?”
Nowadays, it is increasingly common for artists to use AI in game design. AI can work with high intensity, excellent product quality while still being unique and non-duplicate. Many artists have had success using AI to compose or support composition. This is the path that cannot be otherwise. Those who stay out of this game will probably soon be eliminated.
