Warning: Bleach: A Thousand Years’ Blood Battle LeakedBleach: Blood of the Thousand Years is back, and the series wastes no time diving into the plot, with opening scenes that elevate Uryu to a prominent position in the Quincy organization, as well as grant him new powers. However, the nature of this new power can make Uryu too overwhelming for the plot.
In the Thousand Years’ Blood War, leader Quincy Yhwach grants his subordinates a special power, called a “schrift”, each of which corresponds to a letter of the alphabet. These powers can be quite powerful, as seen with Stern Ritter Y, who disguises himself as Yhwach and can fight to an incredible degree while in that state. While most of the other Stern Ritters and their schrift abilities have yet to be shown on screen, all of them are enough to pose a serious threat to those who wield them, and that too with Uryu. However, there is one notable aspect when Uryu receives his schrift, which is the fact that Yhwach says it’s the same as his.
Uryu’s Schrift “A” is one of Bleach’s strongest powers
Uryu was given Schrift “A”, which in the manga is said to stand for “Antithesis”. The Antithesis ability allows its user to take what happened and reverse the results. For example, if Uryu is losing and taking a lot of damage, he can use the Antithesis ability to transfer all the damage he has dealt to his opponent, while whatever has been dealt to him. His opponent will be transferred to him. Uryu wasn’t limited to using this for herself, or even just for wounds; any two objects that have interacted are eligible for this inversion.
It’s not hard to see how this possibility could soon become a breakout story. In some ways, it’s similar to Orihime’s ability to “reject” an event, but the ability to not only undo but also counter an opponent makes it a lot more powerful. Although Uryu has yet to use this ability on screen in the Millennium Blood War anime, his first chance to do so will soon come, as Quincy launches their final war on the Soul Society. . Although the abilities in Uryu’s hands are terrifying enough, the thought that Yhwach has similar abilities takes him from near-impossible to completely invincible, except for developing a technique that even even stronger.
Uryu gains one of the many shattering powers that appear in the Thousand Years of Blood
As manga readers know, many of the possibilities presented by Sternitters in the Thousand Years of Blood are completely broken, or sometimes not fully explained – as is the case with Yhwach’s powers, which will be introduced later. Uryu often struggles to keep up with power creeps in Bleach, but with this ability, that definitely won’t be an issue anymore. As Yhwach’s successor and possessor of the Antithesis ability, Uryu has gone from an ordinary Quincy to one of the greatest threats to the Soul Society of all the centuries. Bleach.
