What happened in Undead Unluck Episode 19?
Juiz reveals important information leading up to the end of season 1
In Undead Unluck episode #19, “Undead + Unluck”, Juiz reveals that many of the details in To You, From Me coincide with events experienced by the League, implying that it was written in prophetic artifacts , G-Liner. So Juiz wants Fuuko and Andy to find the original manuscript to confirm it and find the author, Anno Un, and figure out why some details seem to be left out. With the manuscript being kept at the manga publishing company, Shueisha, there is only one way to get it: Fuuko must write an original manga good enough to publish.
With help from Andy and the Alliance, Fuuko created Undead + Unluck; With a bit of meta humor, Fuuko’s story is also the oneshot that Undead Unluck adapted. At Shueisha, Fuuko impressed an editor enough to be allowed to see a draft of To You, From Me, and the Japanese-language document confirmed that it was not affected by language unification and that that was truly prophetic. After that, Anno Un called Shueisha and Fuuko convinced him to meet her in Canada to discuss the manga. That’s the end of the notes for episode #19.
Undead Unluck’s anime ruined one of Fuuko’s biggest moments
Fuuko’s character development is limited in the adaptation
While unlucky zombies episode #19 is a pretty good continuation of the series, which puts a strange twist on one of Fuuko’s key moments in the manga. In the comics, Fuuko points her gun at the editor to talk to Anno Un, which is a nice way to show how assertive Fuuko has become., but in the anime, Fuuko had Andy threaten her. The anime might not want someone pulling out a gun in a workplace setting, but that censorship still robs Fuuko of character development, so it would be nice if future episodes didn’t have similar changes.
Be sure to watch unlucky zombies episode #20 when released on February 23.
