Undead Unluck is a manga series written and illustrated by Yoshifumi Tozuka, released on January 20, 2020 and currently collected into 18 volumes as of the time of writing. The story is a humorous supernatural adventure, so you can imagine the series will be filled with ridiculous powers and abilities. Therefore, you can imagine that death is also a very ridiculous concept in the series, and with Loops in place, the characters in Undead Unluck don’t actually die in the traditional sense (and we’re not talking about it). to Andy specific situations even in the program). Every character who dies is reborn in the next Loop… well, almost everyone. UMA is an exception and several human characters are dead. This is what we will talk about in this article.
Now, as we said, what we will do in this article is give you a list of all the permanent deaths that occurred in the Undead Unluck manga and anime. We’ll list the major characters who have died so far (both on and off screen) and explain what happened to them in the series and how exactly they died. The article will only focus on the deaths that have occurred in the manga so far, so we will regularly update the article with new information as it appears.
Editor’s Note: This article is updated regularly with each new chapter, as more characters are confirmed dead. Last updated on March 8, 2024.
1. Andy’s crew was killed by bandits
Going back in time, we actually arrived in the United States during the Reconstruction Era. Of course, this is a very interesting time, but it’s even more interesting because it’s somehow connected to Andy’s past. As Fuuko was exploring that segment, she found a younger Andy—he with his hair down and wearing an eyepatch—with a group of his own. All the members have very interesting personalities and it’s a shame we don’t get to see more of them.
In addition to Andy, who is known as the Captain, the crew also includes Josh, Sanders, Red, Ash, and Camus. We probably would have seen more of them, but while they were eating and drinking in a bar in Longing, a group of robbers walked in and started shooting at the people inside, killing all the crew members. group, of which Fuuko is the only survivor. The implications aren’t that serious since it’s a scene from the past, but that’s how it plays out.
2. UMA Autumn was destroyed through joint efforts
One of the more strange incarnations of the four seasons, UMA Autumn is a formidable foe and a truly terrifying character. It was one of Apocalypse’s missions, which included capturing the four UMAs that symbolize the four seasons. UMA Autumn is the first school on that list.
UMA Autumn’s story is somewhat specific and although it has its own plot, many other things happened there. Finally, when Andy was in his book form, UMA Autumn began to approach them, forcing Union and Under to cooperate, especially when UMA Autumn succeeded in reaching the Second Stage. But Akira used his G-Liner to recreate the Life is Strange Artifact, aging Rip so he could help the Unrepair. Thanks to this joint effort, the Negators were able to defeat UMA Autumn.
3. UMA Summer was killed by Tatiana’s Untouchable
UMA Summer is another monster that appears in the series and turns out to be a formidable opponent in many ways. It’s also part of Apocalypse’s mission, so the Negative Man must track it down and destroy it, but it’s not an easy task.
Specifically, as Apocalypse revealed, Negative One has never been able to defeat Summer in its Second Phase, but there is a way to do it. Mui accidentally activates Untruth, forcing Apocalypse to reveal that Summer can only be killed by destroying all of its segments at once. During the fight, Shen and Mui used the Nyoi-Kinko Staff and forced it down Summer’s throat, causing UMA to bend. Tatiana then arrives and uses her ability, Untouchable, effectively destroying all parts of Summer at once, killing UMA.
4. UMA Winter was conveniently killed by UMA Burn
In terms of UMA regarding the penultimate season, UMA Winter suddenly became a very important enemy after UMA Summer was defeated. Specifically, after Summer’s death, the world suddenly began to freeze. This makes sense, because now that Summer is over, there is nothing left to balance the world’s climate, so the freezing power of Winter UMA suddenly becomes very important. This also means that the Negatives have to take care of UMA Winter.
Under and Union clashed over how to approach the fight against UMA Winter, but when Fuuko agreed to cooperate with Under, they all agreed that the best way was to have UMA Burn, an ally of Billy, kill it. , and that’s exactly what happened and how the UMA winter was doomed, as the climate was balanced once again.
5. UMA Spring passed away after a thrilling three-round match with Fuuko
UMA Spring is by far the most exciting of the four UMA seasons. It has a human-like shape and is located on top of Tokyo Tower. Thanks to her abilities, Fuuko was identified as the ideal candidate to fight against UMA Spring, which is why she was sent to face and defeat it.
Spring was able to reach the Third Stage, and he warned Fuuko to stay away in case he entered this insane state. Since Fuuko was there to kill it, UMA Spring agreed to fight three rounds with her to determine the winner, both risking their lives. UMA Spring won round one, while Fuuko won rounds two and three, despite Sun’s interference. After losing the last poem she found, Spring recites one last haiku and dies nobly after being defeated by Fuuko.
6. The 12th Isshin seems to have died of old age sometime before 2015
Best known as Haruka Yamaoka’s grandfather, the 12th Isshin is an interesting character and the holder of the first Unbreakable ability. He is one of the rare human deaths on this list, but his fate in the 100th Loop has been confirmed and he is officially listed as a deceased character on Undead Unluck Wikia.
He has an interesting backstory and is a very protective character, but he’s also an old character and one from the history of the series. Not much of his backstory is revealed, but he is a respected character in the series. His fate was unknown for a long time, but later in the series it was revealed that he died of old age, sometime before 2015. His tombstone was also seen in the series, confirming that he did in fact Actually, he died a while ago..
7. Tesshu Isshin is another family member who died, but the circumstances are not really clear
Tessu Isshin is called “The First” by his descendants, so we can deduce that he was the first member of the Isshin clan to hold the Unbreakable ability, which means he was also is a character from the past. And yes, he is both a blacksmith and a Negator, a holder of the Unbreakable ability.
Sadly not much is known about him or his story, as the series gives very little information about him, but he is still an interesting character, and since he has been confirmed as a deceased person, we have to list him here. But sadly, we can’t give you more details simply because the series is yet to reveal all the details we definitely want to know about Tessu Isshin and his fate.
8. The cause of UMA Magma’s death is currently unknown
The three UMAs we’re going to talk about, starting with Magma, appeared in the Ragnarok Arc, and they were all revealed to be Prime Canons, meaning they were killed at one point in previous Loops of the series. Sadly, details about each of them are scarce, as is the case with several other characters.
Magna gathers at Ruin’s castle and teams up with Gravity to destroy the Negative One, attacking Andy and Fuuko. Andy uses Fuuko’s Unluck to save them from falling debris and then observes that it was all caused by Magma, which surprises him a bit since he knew he killed Magma not too long ago. Sadly, this is all we know about the circumstances of UMA Magma’s death as the series doesn’t reveal any further information about what happened.
9. The same can be said about UMA Slice, who also became a Master Rule
Everything we said about UMA Magma above can also be said about UMA Slice here. Sadly, we don’t have any information about the history of this UMA, but we do know that it represents a slashing action, so you can assume it was both dangerous and deadly. Especially since it’s a literal monster.
It looks like UMA Slice has also become Core Rules, which means it was killed off at some point in the past, although we don’t really have any details for you at this point. What we do know is that it debuted in the Ragnarok Arc and that it fought against the Negative Ones during that part of the story. With that said, we’re sad to say this, but there’s nothing more we can add here to expand on this story at this time. Perhaps more information will be revealed later in the series.
10. UMA Gravity seemed to be the most complicated game, but it was also discontinued
For UMA Gravity, it actually makes sense for this guy to be a Prime Canon since there’s no one floating around Earth in the series. Therefore, gravity exists. But that doesn’t matter now. Gravity is one of the Core Rules, and it’s been implied in the series that it was killed at some point in the past, but we don’t really have any details for you as of yet. This.
UMA Gravity appeared with the other UMAs in the Ragnarok Arc and it attacks the Negatives, mainly supporting Magma. It has a very condescending and condescending attitude towards humans, looking down on them throughout the war. And that’s more or less it; Sadly, we can’t tell you much more than this, but we hope that this series will give us more information later on.
11. Kenji Yokezu passed away, apparently old
The last name on this list up to now is Kenji Yokezu, a seemingly unimportant supporting character. He is an old man who is introduced as someone who loves to play the lottery. He is very old so the characters are more or less certain that he will soon die. Why is this important? Well, he was actually the owner of the Inevitable ability before it was passed down to the Void, which explains his connection to the main characters.
He always wins the lottery and the Negative knows that he is the one who possesses the Inevitable ability. This meant they had to wait for his death to recruit Void, and at one point it was confirmed that he had passed away, most likely due to old age.
