The anime Twilight Out of Focus (Tasogare Out Focus) is based on the BL manga written and illustrated by Jyanome. It was serialized by Kodansha’s Honey Milk from June 2018 to May 2019. Kodansha USA licensed the first volume in English in March 2022 and describes the plot as:
Movie enthusiast Mao Tsuchiya and his lone wolf roommate Hisashi Otomo make three promises: ① That Mao will never tell anyone that Hisashi is gay and has a boyfriend, ② That Hisashi will not ever approach Mao “that way” and ③ That they would respect each other’s “private time.” The second year’s ground rules should ensure a peaceful life together in their dorm, but reality is never as simple as it seems in the movies and some things aren’t as easy as promised…
Kodansha also licensed a second volume, titled Twilight Out of Focus 2: Afterimages in Slow Motion:
Jin, third-year director, main actor and film club president, and second-year director Giichi has a very small, intuitive point of view. Jin is flashy, flirtatious, and focused on keeping everyone happy, while Giichi expects the best from himself and others, and will not compromise to achieve his vision. me. Constantly arguing with each other, the two can hardly stand being in the same club. But what happens when family troubles force them to share a dorm room? Will their common interests bring them closer together as friends, push them further apart as rivals—or something else entirely?
In addition to Twilight Out of Focus, other manga titles that Jyanome has worked on include Waraibanashi no You da (2012), Colorful na Kimi to Monochrome na Boku (2014), and Michimichi naru Mama ni (2017).
