HBO Max (now renamed Max) and Warner Bros officially confirmed to launch the TV series project of Harry Potter. This is a decade-long project with an all-new cast taking on the iconic characters of author JK Rowling. Notably, many sources said that the new series will have a more diverse cast of races, different from the old version.
On podcasts The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider of Warner Bros. revealed that the studio is prioritizing ethnic diversity with this TV version. This is said to be an “attempt to get people of color on the air more”. In particular, this producer revealed that it is very likely that Hermione in the upcoming series will be black.

In fact, in the play Harry Potter on Broadway and the West End, the characters also did not remain white. Many characters are played by actors of color and still receive the support of the audience. However, the casting of black actors in Harry Potter will certainly cause a lot of controversy.
If this really happens, Warner Bros. definitely needs a thorough plan to protect the actors, especially the children, from racism.
Up to now, the series is still in the “pregnancy” stage, has not recruited new actors and has no official release date.
