After four long years, we finally get the long-awaited second season of this franchise. The episode opens with a recap of what happened after Rachel betrayed Bam. No one suspects her of any wrongdoing, but we see Androssi clearly depressed and sad. However, Bam doesn’t die, and he decides to become stronger and go up the tower again to get answers for the betrayal. But that’s all we see of Bam, as this season won’t be focused entirely on him.
Elsewhere, we see Yuri, who visits another Zahard princess and asks her to go find Bam. But in return, the other princess asks for something else and they both agree to help each other. The scene then shifts to the 20th floor of the tower, where the official participants are shown again. But this is where things get complicated. If you fail the test and don’t get your E rank, you’re stuck on this level. Plus, the tests are incredibly difficult and the fee to take the exam is ridiculous. This is why this floor is filled with people who will probably never climb the tower again.
Here we see another important character of the season, Ja Wangnan. He is a carefree, deceitful but kind-hearted guy who is in huge debt due to overspending and failing his exams. But he has to overcome his difficulties or else he will have to sell his organs to a debt collector. In his last attempt to climb the tower, he comes across a mysterious man who will change his fate for better or worse.
Verdict
This anime has an inherent problem that you can't help but point out. Yes, the animation is great and the action scenes are fun, but the storytelling is lacking. The world of Tower Of God is a complex and intricate one that needs to be properly explained so that non-webtoon readers can understand it, but that never happens. You are given information about things that you won't be able to understand until and unless you read fan theories or get help from people who have read the webtoon. This is why, for those who are just a pure anime viewer, the series becomes tedious and difficult to follow.
This season is starting in a completely new direction, however, it is still too early to confirm anything. , I hope they improve this aspect.
