Warning: Contains spoilers for Tower of God season 2, episode #8. After a four-year hiatus, Tower of God is finally back for a second season as part of the summer 2024 anime season. Season 1 was a huge hit with fans and critics, and was a fairly faithful adaptation of the popular manhwa, and as such, it's one of the most anticipated anime of the summer, if not 2024, in general.
Despite the hype surrounding its premiere, Tower of God season 2 is not without its problems. Season 2 is halfway through and while there is no shortage of fans, Tower of God season 2 has faced controversy for its visuals and overall production values.not to mention some weird additions to the article that make things worse.
Episode #8 was a major turning point for many, and while the show still has its merits, it's hard to judge things any other way than a significant drop in quality.
Tower Of God Season 2 Has A Huge Discount On Visuals & Animation
Tower Of God Part 2 is a big step down from the first part
The first thing about Tower of God season 2 that is controversial is its art style. While season 1 had a unique, flowing art style that helped it stand out with its creative visuals, Tower of God season 2's art style is much more generic than season 1'strades on the fluidity that once defined it for its very typical anime drawing style. Indeed, the change in art style mirrors the change in manhwa art style, but it doesn't work in animation, and it's disappointing to see anyone liking the original art style.
The biggest problem, unfortunately, is the animation. While there are some good fight scenes in the early episodes, Tower of God season 2's animation has become increasingly stiff and often features awkward and lazy shots.Episode #8 is the worst because of the weird transitions and the poorly executed fight scene between Bam and Quaetro Blitz. These issues can all be attributed to The Answer Studio handling season 2 instead of Telecom Animation Film; The Answer Studio primarily does cross-animation, and they were clearly not equipped for a project like this.
Tower Of God's Story Loses Its Appeal in Part 2
With some production and quality issues, anime is not what it used to be.
The drop in production value is one thing, but what makes things worse is the change in story quality. While season 1 had a lot of lightness, female Tower of God The anime has a much less serious plot in season 2 than in season 1.with a much more eccentric and cliche cast and much more farce-based and slapstick humor from day one. It makes the series feel much more like a typical shonen anime, and even if the writing around it is great, the complete dissonance compared to season 1's writing still makes it hard to watch.
As for the plot, at least, it's likely another point that just reflects the developments in the manhwa, and it's likely to return to the more serious plot of season 1. Still, between the change in tone and the shocking deterioration in art and animation, Tower of God season 2 is unlike season 1 in every worst way; likely Tower of God It's possible that it could continue before season 2 ends, but at this point, that's highly unlikely.
