I’m starting the new year with my first review, which features TokyoTreat’s January 2024 Snack Box called New Year’s snack party. TokyoTreat generously sent me this box with the aim of bringing a taste of the New Year, aka Oshogatsu.

I previously shared my overall, comprehensive review of TokyoTreat, discussing its overall merits. This time, my focus will be on exploring the exciting content of the current (January 2024) box, providing insight into what subscribers can expect and the value it brings again for another month to get a clearer picture.
What’s in the TokyoTreat Box – January 2024?
The package is neatly packaged inside a paper box as always. I’m excited because I know there will be some new snacks as well as familiar dishes that I used to love. I’m not disappointed; The box has a variety of dishes, a total of 15 modern Japanese snacks. It provides a balanced combination of salty, savory and sweet dishes.
The box always comes with a handy English booklet that not only provides information about allergens and whether the snack is vegan/vegetarian-friendly, but also also includes interesting details and images about seasonal Japanese traditions. It’s impressive that they put so much effort into this, allowing us to learn new things about Japanese culture in an engaging way.
Favorite snack
Nagoya Donuts
Did you know that red beans are eaten at New Year in Japan to ward off bad luck and bad omens? Me too!
Nagoya donuts are an irresistible snack—super soft, slightly sweet, and filled with popular red bean paste. I love snacks with that kind of texture so it was a really fun experience for me.
Seaweed & Salted Potatoes
I love the rich flavor of the potatoes, but I’m not sure about the seaweed salt. To my surprise, it turned out to be extremely delicious and the package was generously sized.
Sour Cola Lollipopp
As a cola zero addict, I knew I would love this cola lollipop. It has a very pleasant sour taste and has candy powder at the bottom of the lollipop bag. You can dip the lollipop in it after licking it thoroughly, which makes the whole experience not only enjoyable but also much more delicious!
Snack potato chips
Potato chip snacks are an absolute delight and as a big potato snack enthusiast, I knew I would love these crunchy and light treats. These snacks prove that when it comes to potatoes, you can’t go wrong…
Mishmash Soda candy string
This one has a sweet soda filling in the middle, but the outer shell tastes strangely unique, like something I’ve never tried before. Describing it is a bit tricky because it’s unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before, but it definitely has a pleasant but atypical soda flavor.
