See iconic video game character waka waka above the Government Office
It's not uncommon for famous buildings to be lit up for special occasions. For example, the Tokyo Skytree and Tokyo Tower are often lit up for events like the Olympics, LGBT+ events, and other special occasions. However, it's rare for a government building to be lit up with a recognizable product or fictional character. But when it happens, it's a spectacle. Pac-Man's X (formerly Twitter) account announced on September 13 that the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office will be lighting up the iconic Pac-Man video game starting September 28.

According to the website, the Pac-Man Lights Festival will begin on September 28 with showings every half hour from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on weekdays and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on weekends.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government website also announced information about future projection mapping events at the Office. There will be a second Godzilla light show scheduled for late November, and a performance of Japanese pop duo YOASOBI's hit song “Idol” from the anime Oshi no Ko is scheduled for early December. It is unclear whether the Godzilla show will be the same as the previous one in 2024. However, a portion of the original Godzilla projection mapping program is available on the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's YouTube channel.
