Gaming is getting more and more expensive, regardless of the platform. Not only is there a lot of hardware investment, but players also have to constantly update and spend money to buy the latest blockbusters. However, we can still save some money if we wait for the upcoming free games below.
Throne And Liberty
Anyone who plays MMORPGs has probably heard of NCSoft – the developer responsible for Guild Wars 2, Blade & Soul, Lineage, and WildStar – all of which are already well-known names. And now, another blockbuster is about to appear. It's called Throne And Liberty.
After countless delays, the game has finally reached a point where a release date can be announced. That is September 17th. Throne and Liberty will include traditional quests, a weather system, and a mechanic that allows players to transform into animals, along with the currently popular PvPvE mechanics. This is also a free-to-play MMO that promises to explode the gaming scene this year.
Path of Exile 2
Diablo 4's most formidable rival, Path of Exile 2, is on the way. Its first installment, Grinding Gear's Path of Exile, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023, and the game remains one of the best free-to-play options on the market. Pitched as an alternative to Diablo, the isometric action RPG offers great customization, gameplay, and plenty of content to enjoy without investing any cash.
Path of Exile 2's Steam description touts a six-act campaign and extensive endgame content in the form of over 100 maps with unique boss battles. There are also 12 base classes and a variety of interesting character builds. The game will enter Early Access on November 15.
Marvel Rivals
Marvel Rivals brings together some of the most popular comic book characters and puts them into an Overwatch-style game, with matches pitting two teams of six against each other. Heroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther, Iron Man, and the Hulk have been confirmed, and there will even be a few villains (or anti-heroes) like Venom, Loki, and Magneto.
From the footage shown so far and the beta impressions, Marvel Rivals gameplay is going to be chaotic, fast-paced, and exciting, with unique character abilities. At Gamescom 2024, Marvel Rivals revealed a December 2024 release date, which should help close out the year with some anticipation for gamers. Along with that information, two more playable characters have been added to the roster: Captain America and Winter Soldier.
