Sai Naekawa, the manga's creator, also shared an illustration to commemorate the anime adaptation announcement:
The anime adaptation is based on a manga series written and illustrated by Sai Naekawa. ASCII Media Works magazine Dengeki Maoh has been serializing the series since August 2020. Yen Publishing published the first volume in English in June 2024.
The summary of the series is as follows:
“I came to eat you,” the mermaid Shiori softly utters as she emerges from the sea and holds the hand of high school girl Hinako. Hinako lives alone in a coastal town and possesses an unusually delicious body that makes nearby monsters irresistible. To ensure she grows up in the best conditions, Shiori seeks to protect Hinako—all so that one day, she can devour her body piece by piece. A longing thought appeared in Hinako's mind; “Maybe this monster can make my wish come true.”
