Viz Media compiled the entire Yu Yu Hakusho manga collection and posted it online for fans to read.

YYK’s animated adaptation recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, but despite the series’ popularity, the manga remains difficult to find, especially on the digital side. Physical versions can be found online, but their prices are quite high. However, Viz Media has overcome this problem by uploading each chapter, a total of 175 chapters, to their Shonen Jump service. The first three chapters are free to read, while the rest can be unlocked by subscribing to their monthly service. Readers can do so for under $3.

What is Yu Yu Hakusho?

For those who haven’t had a chance to enjoy the manga or anime, here’s the official description of Yu Yu Hakusho: “Yusuke Urameshi was a hardened teenage criminal until a selfless act changed his life you…by ending it. When he died saving a child from a speeding car, the afterlife, not knowing what to do with the boy, gave him a second chance at life. Now, Yusuke is a ghost with a mission to perform good deeds as ordered by Botan, the guide to the souls of the dead, and Koenma, her pacifier-sucking boss from the ‘other side’. But what strange things await him at the boundary between life and death?”

That description covers the first volume of the series, which feels more like a “slice of life” story than anything else. But as long-time fans know, the series gets incredibly exciting from there as Yusuku meets allies and enemies that force him to develop the mental power that now resides within him. Yu Yu Hakusho became popular in both manga and anime for its incredible actions and characters. The “main four” cast all have key moments that define them throughout the film, and the villains are still praised to this day.

Many consider YYK’s anime adaptation to be one of the best anime ever created. The animation and storytelling were transferred masterfully from page to cartoon, and the voice acting helped make the film even more epic. Thirty years later, fans are still discussing this movie and watching it on services like Hulu. But now, those who haven’t read the original story and want to see where the anime got the legendary story from can read the whole thing without any problem.

Fans can read the full Yu Yu Hakusho story now.
