Fans of the animated series Precure will get another new film next year, expanding the long-running series.
The official announcement came as a surprise at the end of the latest movie, Eiga Precure All Stars F (also known as Pretty Cure All Stars F). The film also marks the 14th installment in the crossover event, All Stars, as well as the 20th anniversary of the Precure series, which began in 2004, with the animated series Futari wa Pretty Cure.
Details about the upcoming Precure movie have yet to be revealed and nothing is currently known. Starting in 2009, Precure All Stars films have been released every year, with the exception of 2021 and 2022. The films have been generally successful, with Eiga Procure All Stars F serving as a sequel to Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure, the 20th installment of the series, debuted earlier this year. The series features a notable cast, introducing all 77 magical girls across the series’ entire history, including the first installment, Futari wa Pretty Cure, through Soaring Sky! Pretty Cure.
Additionally, it also introduces various new characters to the Precure universe exclusive to the All-Stars event, including Cure Supreme/Prim (Maaya Sakamoto) and Pūka (Atsumi Tanezaki). Prim, a brand new Precure, goes through a transformational journey as she tries to connect with the other members of the Cure Sky Team.
The soundtrack of Precure All Stars F features the theme song “Ureshikute (I’m Happy)” performed by Ikimono-gakari. Ami Ishii and Machico, who previously sang for the series, performed the opening theme “For F.” Notable singers including Chihaya Yoshitake, Carin Isobe, Rie Kitagawa, Yuri Komagata and Kanako Miyamoto, from various members of Precure, also unite to deliver the aptly named song, “All for one Forever”.
An anime spin-off in the series, titled Kibōu no Chikara: Otona Precure 23, will premiere on October 7.
