One Piece has just heated up the debate about who is stronger between Sanji and Zoro. Indeed, their rivalry is one of the biggest highlights of the series. Despite always using nasty words for each other, it’s clear that Zoro and Sanji respect each other very much.

In chapter 1107, fans saw how much Zoro and Sanji grew in power when facing Luffy’s old enemies, Lucci and Kizaru. Zoro was there, holding Lucci tightly, even though he looked like he was at his limit. On the other side, Sanji surprised everyone by blocking a blow from Kizaru and calling it “the power of love”. Although these scenes are separate, they seem to be deliberately placed so that we can compare the two scenes.
This chapter shows how much the two have grown since Wano, where they each achieved victory over the Queen and King of the Hundred Beasts Pirates. Sanji’s fight against Kizaru and Zoro’s fight against Lucci showed off their new skills and they were now on another level.
Sanji’s defense against Kizaru can be attributed to his Armament Haki combined with his enhanced exoskeleton (an upgrade from Germa’s modifications). Zoro was also impressed when he was able to keep up with the speed of Lucci, one of the fastest guys Luffy has ever faced.
Finally, the Egghead arc showed how much stronger the Straw Hats are, especially the trio of monsters in the crew. While Zoro held Lucci, Sanji did the same with Kizaru, leaving Luffy free to fight Saint Saturn. Despite everyone arguing about who is stronger, Zoro and Sanji prove that they are essential to helping Luffy become the pirate king.
