Summary
The misguided use of healing magic breathes new life into the isekai story, making it more exciting and action-packed. The main character’s healing magic attracts a violent and rough healer, adding a unique element to the series. The anime effectively differentiates the main character’s circumstances and introduces unique training methods that captivate viewers.
A new anime from Crunchyroll called How to use healing magic incorrectly creating a classic isekai The trope popularized recently by The Saint’s Magic Power is that Omnipotent is more appealing to those who want more action and adventure. The trope in question – already one of the more intriguing of the bunch – immediately calls into question the legitimacy of the protagonist as it is believed that they have been accidentally summoned.
There may be a third season due to the popularity, the main character of The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent meets such a fate when her isekai companion is chosen over her. The problem is that the protagonist is denied the right to choose what she can do and, unfortunately, pursues a random transaction that epitomizes the very niche “slow living” genre. Although her successes finally bring her to action, those who want to see almighty magical power on the battlefield, as the title suggests, still have to wait.
However, Crunchyroll’s new series The Wrong Way to Use Healing Magic perfects this situation by forcing the hero to do a job that’s relevant but different enough to make it interesting.

Originally a light novel series by writer Kurokata and illustrator KeG, this adaptation of How to Use Healing Magic Wrongly: Main Recovery Team Member Running Through the Battlefield brings to life the accidentally summoned hero Ken Usato a “special” gift involving his Isekai classmates who have stereotypically amazing powers, like most isekai. By comparison, Usato’s “gift” is healing magic, which is more supportive than something a real hero would use. However, instead of the power being misunderstood as usual, the “catch” of the healing ability is that it attracts a strangely violent and overly rough healer named Rose. It’s Rose’s healing style that gives the series a unique, more interesting approach.
So far, the anime has done a great job of differentiating Usato’s situation to attract viewers. The first episode effectively portrays Usato as a special case despite not being a hero as the king and his subjects treat him with fear. Although that fear is misconstrued, the strangeness behind the prospect that anyone could feel threatened by a healer is also intriguing.
This is complemented by Rose’s subsequent introduction, promising her unique training methods are enough to captivate any viewer. The second episode then delivers what the anime only hinted at and this effect will be welcomed by most anime viewers as it simulates a standard story in the usual action/adventure series but in a different setting. Completely unique scene. The role changer in the second episode creates a similar effect, except that instead of practicing, Usato and Rose put this unique form of healing into practice.
Even though it’s still early in the season, How to use healing magic incorrectly are using one isekai trope often takes the unwittingly summoned hero down a less interesting path and gives him some much-needed extra power by turning well-established story lines into something more suitable for a series action/adventure.
