Summary
Let me check out the first guide that gives a fresh look at the “summoning” story in isekai anime, with the main character being accidentally summoned. The series breaks from the usual formula by having the main character, Lin, accompany the intended hero, Tian, as her bodyguard instead of returning to his own body. The second episode of Let Me Check the Walkthrough First reveals the connection between Lin and Tian’s past lives early on, unlike other isekai series, which adds a comedic effect to the story.
Warning: The following contains spoilers for Let Me Check the Walkthrough episode 2!
Let me check out the first tutorial which originally aired from May 21, 2022 to July 30, 2022 but is now simulcast on Crunchyroll.
At first glance, anime isekai Let me check the instructions first ABOVE Crunchyroll seems incapable of revolutionizing or overthrowing anything. It’s so cute and so clearly doesn’t take itself seriously that many of the tropes it follows are done almost too conspicuously. And yet, this new series really brings a new breeze to the classic “summoning” game that very few people try.
When it comes to forms of reincarnation in isekai, some series involve the main character being magically reincarnated in a magical realm with incredible powers, finding a new purpose after embracing keep regrets about past lives. Others involve an all-powerful force that summons an ordinary person to their magical world by killing them because that person is predestined to save them from whatever calamity befalls them. The latter is what happened to Lin Yinuo, except that she was summoned by chance in Let Me Check the Walkthrough First, a series that first aired in 2022, but is currently being simulcast. Adapted on Crunchyroll for the fall anime season. Furthermore, Lin’s real body is not dead yet, so she can still return to her body before her official death.
Let me check out the first tutorial flipping another innovative recipe from Isekai

After being summoned, Lin learned in the pattern summary from her summoner that someone else named Tian Enya should have been summoned – not her. Lin later saved that person after embarking on her own adventure, and by episode 2, it was discovered that Lin was caught up in the summoning spell because she and Tian had the same birthday. However, instead of being returned to her original body as she wished, Lin was asked to accompany Tian as her bodyguard.
Few isekai attempt to subvert the usual summoning formula, in which the main character is correctly summoned and then saves everyone even though they were a normal person in a previous life. Interestingly, there’s another Crunchyroll anime series in 2022 as well, except it’s a new take on Let Me Check the Walkthrough First. In the first season of The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, the main character Sei is summoned along with another girl named Aira. Like Lin, Sei’s summoning was believed to be an accident until later events proved her to be the true hero. Meanwhile, Aira turns out to have been summoned together with Sei because they were very close to each other in their previous lives. By contrast, Let Me Check the Walkthrough First clearly established that its true protagonist was accidentally summoned, which is the least expected outcome for obvious reasons.
Let me check out the guide that shares similarities with Oshi No Ko
In addition to subverting the stereotypical isekai “summoning” trope, Let Me Check the Walkthrough First also pulls off another surprise in its second episode by revealing the connection between Lin and Tian in their past lives. Not only is this rare, but if any parallels are made in an isekai the series usually keeps this information under wraps until later. The only notable exception occurs in the popular anime Oshi no Ko, where Dr. Gorou and his former patient Sarina are reincarnated as pop idol Ai’s children, Aqua and Ruby, respectively, in the first episode.
The difference is that Let Me Check the Walkthrough’s Lin and Tian are immediately informed about their past relationship for comedic effect, while Oshi no Ko keeps Aqua and Ruby in the dark to add to the suspense. thrilling. The reason for this is, same way Let me check the instructions first is a much less serious version of The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent, so it’s also not as dramatic as Oshi no Ko despite its renewal.
