The anime originally began airing in January of this year, but was delayed due to production issues. Broadcasts begin again in July. Yuichiro Umehara has replaced Tatsuhisa Suzuki as the voice of Anos, while the rest of the cast are reprising their roles. The staff includes:

The Misfit of Demon King Academy series is based on a novel written by Shu and illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma. The novel began serialization on Dengeki Bunko in 2018, with an adaptation of Kayaharuka’s manga following MangaUp! magazine. When Kayaharuka passed away in 2021, the manga went on an indefinite hiatus.

Square Enix licensed the manga in English, while Crunchyroll streamed the anime. They describe the story:
Anos Voldigord was a tyrannical Demon King who destroyed humans, souls, and even gods. But he was bored with the eternal war and reborn with the dream of a peaceful world. However, what awaits him in his reincarnation after 2000 years are descendants who have become too weak after getting used to peace and all kinds of magic have degraded to the extreme. Anos enters the Demon King Academy, which gathers and educates those who are considered reincarnations of the Demon King. But the academy couldn’t see through his true strength and ended up deeming him a pervert!
